Wow. I remember when we filed I130/K3 back in 2007 and were in the rank and file of the bunch that filed just before the fees were raised. It took 7 months to get approval and another month to get an interview and that was just for a K3 visa.

Now, after living outside the US for a couple years, we filed a new petition. Filed, approved, and Packed III received in (5) weeks. Amazing and go DCF!

i don't get it.

Where are you guys in the process? We filed June 2007 and were approved I130/I129F and NVC released in Dec, 2007. Nita's interview in Jakarta was scheduled for mid-Jan. As I recall the Jakarta interview involved "this should make your husband happy" and handing over the passport/visa (AKA there WAS no interview but I had sent a couple of messages and we visited the embassy together (twice) while we were in the middle of the filing process).

Your case going pretty smoothly?

Once they review and accept it is essentially approved. I believe the IMBRA check on the USC gets done after filing and after that the Packet III is mailed to the beneficiary. We pick up the letter to request a police certificate from the consulate on Saturday and afer we get the certificate we will request our interview.

Since we want to leave end of Nov we appear to be in good shape. From what I can tell the interviews (here) are being scheduled about 8 weeks out from filing that all of the paperwork has been gathered so we are looking at mid-August to have a visa in hand.

Our packet III letter was dated May 1 which means it was generated 3 weeks after filing. Saudi snail mail is awful so whatever goes back and forth gets 2 weeks added per trip grrr

What do you mean by file a new petition? We plan to move abroad after we spend some years in US later, and we may need to file new petition if we decide to move to US again after that.

Thats what we did. We filed the first petition after we got married in 2007 and got the green card in 2008. I took a job overseas in 2009 and we went back and forth on the green card for awhile then we just finally went to the consulate and surrendered it.

We want to go back to the US in Dec for good so we filed a new petition in April.

  • 1 month later...

So it took (6) weeks to get a saudi police certificate - it's just a form that goes from department to department for some drone to put a stamp on it. Packet returned to the embassy last week. We are waiting for Packet IV / interview date

i don't get it.
