Sunday on Meet the Press, Rudy Giuliani packed a mouthful into sixty seconds, saying some nice things about President Obama, telling us that we have to give equal credit to Bush, and teasing the world with the possibility that he's still thinking about running for president:

MAYOR GIULIANI: This was a risky decision to make. The president made it, he made it correctly, including the decision, I think, to dispose of bin Laden's body so that wouldn't become a cause celebre. So I think these men, these firefighters and police officers that he met with, are men who exercise bravery every day in their lives, I think they admire that in the president.

MR. GREGORY: Does it impact at all, Mayor Giuliani, your thinking about running for president next year?

MAYOR GIULIANI: No. Not in the slightest. I separate the two things. This was an American achievement. Two presidents get great credit for it. I also thanked President Bush this week because, no matter what, what about the debate, no matter what you come out on the debate of--about waterboarding, no doubt, all of the work he did and the changes he made in intelligence brought this about. And President Obama's improving that, and his decision-making brought it about. It's a great achievement for both presidents, both political parties, all Americans.

MR. GREGORY: And you're still considering a run for the presidency?

MAYOR GIULIANI: Not, not right this minute, but, yes, I am.

My first inclination of the Obama Presidency was that it was going to be a mirror image of the Carter Presidency, with the same results, but the longer we go into this the more it resembles the Clinton Presidency- Overturn of Congress in the first two years, followed by a lack of the Republicans to produce any sort of viable candidate for the Presidency. Once again they are winning games but lacking a real closer. Reminds me of the Lakers. Obviously a lot can happen in a year, but when are we going to get a for real candidate? Clinton Declared in January of 2007, was a strong candidate, and still couldn't win. Clock's ticking.

Question:

Why is it that among over 307,000,000 people living in the United States, many of them with top notch education, nobody can be recruited on either side of the isle that would be so charismatic, that the majority of Americans would cheer and vote for him or her?

Answer:

Because highly educated Americans with ethical values are not corrupt enough to be supported by the corporations that finance the elections and dictate the politicians, the President of the United States included, what to do once elected.

So if We the People want a highly qualified government, from Congressmen to Senators all the way up to the President, we need to get corporate money out of the process. Until then, we'll have nothing but corrupt corporatists, people who answer not to the American people, but to the highly paid CEOs of gigantic corporations.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Most Americans do not trust those with "top notch educations".
