They could be like my two uncles and just never set foot in the state of New Jersey again. Not honorable, by any means, but so it goes.

Men can split the moment after conception. Women are stuck.

It's not that simple now days.

All one state has to do is find you liable for child support and other state's will find out where you are, find your employer and demand garnishment.

The only way you won't pay these days if found liable, is if you work under the table.

Whatever the legal ramifications might be, still, physically, men can just go. It is that way across the animal kingdom, save a few exceptions, like seahorses. No matter what, women still have a 9-month obligation plus childbirth. And the consequences for infanticide are way harsher than those for non-payment of child support.

Thats not entirely correct either.

If a man (or women) leaves the state to avoid child support responsibilities, he can be a target for federal charges, which open up a whole range of possible actions.

I think it was a Republican President who signed that legislation.

Notice how all of these men speak only of economic responsibility, not emotional, physical, time, etc. There is more to raising kids than dollars.

Men shouldn't make rules for women when it comes to a womans body.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

precisely why preventing pregnancy is 99% a woman's responsibility.

I'm a woman and I think this is great.

A lot of girls/women do make that choice without really thinking it through. They should definitely have all the information.

Plus if you don't want the kid, there are other options...adoption?

I thought it through long ago, which is why, given such a situation, I would choose abortion.

So then, why opposed to the law? If you've made up your mind, then what is a sonogram going to do? For someone else though, it could actually help them out. Not everyone thinks about the end results, as you obviously have.

Because she knows what it entails and doesn't need a guilt trip from a doctor who is clearly trying to talk you out of your decision. There is a difference between being informed, and and trying to persuade. For someone who is under the age of 18, yes, they probably should be educated about what they are doing. Are there really adults in this day and age who don't know what an abortion involves? You can stop the disingenuous act. Nobody thinks that this is for 'information'.

I actually live somewhere with free abortions now, so it doesn't affect me, personally. But like I said before, the 24 hour rule is a great access barrier for poor women who live far from abortion providers and cannot take several days off work. Plus, frankly, it is condescending and patronizing. Not only do I not want to be a parent at this moment of time, I don't want the state to be my parent either.
