Great point. Those colonists ended up being all nice and everything with those that accomodated them, right? Kind of like what many in the anti-abortion rights crusade are on about forcing their morals unto others.

There were not all the finest examples of humanity. Many were debtors and ruffians clogging the dungeons of London. Some were smugglers, others were adventurers. Most probably were not that successful living the European dream at the time. Georgia was a penal colony to act as a buffer zone between the English Colonists and Spanish Florida.

Do you really want to make a argument based on the exception to the rule? Walk away now and save what little dignity you have left.

Perhaps you can point me in the direction of the abortion debate where you prove the things you say. But lets be clear:

1) If a couple is "irresponsible" and gets pregnant after drunken saturday night sex: Simpson wants to force the woman to have the baby and punish her and the doctor with... what... exactly? Fines? Jail? Corporal Punishment? Death?

2) If a couple is "responsible", uses several methods of contraception and still gets pregnant: Simpson wants to force the woman to have the baby and punish her and the doctor with... what... exactly? Fines? Jail? Corporal Punishment? Death?

Responsible or irresponsible - it doesn't matter how you got there: Simpson wants you to have that baby - even if he has to lock you in a cellar or tie you to a bed!

Do you consider me a bible thumping extremist?

Not once in this thread has god been mentioned and yet you want to bring up bible thumping extremists. Check your stereotypes at the door please.

Well... You DO have a blatantly puritanical attitude towards sex and want other people to follow your arbitrary moral code of conduct as it pertains to sexual behaviour (backed up by the punishment of law). At least you haven't started shouting "Jehovah", "Praise Jesus" and "Repent now or burn forever!".

Apples and oranges? Health care has nothing to do with life? Is that what you're saying? You can't expect to be taken seriously if you can't admit that a country that allows tens of thousands of it's people - five people each and every hour of each and every day - to needlessly have their lives cut short, to die prematurely for no other reason than not having access to health care is simply NOT a pro-life country. The "pro-life" crowd also happens to largely be the crowd that would not only love to extent that indefensible status quo but actually make it far worse by having old people down the road kick that bucket just as soon as possible. The "pro-life" crowd (I just threw up a little) cares about life only if we're talking about a fetus - viable or not - in another person's womb. Once born, that life can go to hell right then and there and they won't give a **.

Because were talking about people that have choices vs those who dont

You know, the misspelling here really takes the sting out of the insult. It hurts even less than a trip to the dentist.star_smile.gif

A spelling error...come on elmcity you can do better. I was talking about imaginary people so I think its safe to say I wasn't going for "sting"

That's a pathetic attempt to insult. If you're going to call someone an imbecile, you should take care to spell it correctly or, it is YOU who is the imbecile.

I find it cute how people like you and elmcity get off on spelling errors. I know you probably think it makes you look smart but IMO it makes you look petty.

I will have to get to this tomorrow,I can hardly wait to put you in your place. I have to get going.

Excellent!

1. What grade are you comfortable with for starting what you call sex education?

(I would call it "sex, STDs, pregnancy, parenthood and pregnancy termination" because it is really so much more than about sex)

Bear in mind that kids can start having sex shortly after 12 years old... not all of them, but some start that early.

Educating people on being responsible means explaining to the kids biology of reproductive sex, biology of pregnancy (and how difficult it is), all about STDs, requirements of parenthood (and how difficult it is), and ways of pregnancy/STD prevention. Pregnancy and abortion are the last things they should want to happen to them (OK, may be after HIV), and they need to know what it entails and what are the consequences.

2. Want to help women with pregnancies and decrease number of abortions? Start a charity or vote for social programs. Any woman who can't afford pre-natal and post-natal care and pay for delivery should have free options. May be Oregon is baby heaven, but IL surely is not. Most states aren't heaven as far as I know. You seem to think that most babies get aborted simply because mother is selfish... but many have no healthcare. And in current economic situation you can't blame them for being slackers, these are just tough times. Baby birth comes with a bill of $10-40K. With half the country having income of <45K a year per family, this is unaffordable. Baby daycare with sliding scale pricing dependent on mother's income would help too.

You see, if you really honestly care you should be working towards positive aspects of encouraging women to continue with their pregnancies... instead of cheering for another stupid law making abortions more damaging (like there is not enough of stupid laws!)

It is said that mother Teresa refused to participate in anti-war demonstration. When asked about it, she said if it was pro-piece demonstration, she'd go. But anything "anti" only feeds into proliferation of whatever you are fighting against. Don't be anti-abortion. Be pro-life.

Educating people in being responsible, please explain. I think that most people having sex understand the bird and the bees but hey if they dont I'm all about educating them. This does not mean offering sex education classes to 1st graders.

I have no problem helping woman deal with the consequences but not in a manner that would take the babies life. People make mistakes, I get it. I just dont think its fair to punish the unborn baby for their mistake.

I'm confused, what babies do you think that I don't care about?

I am for programs that would help pregnant teenagers. I know that a lot adopting parents(there is a waiting list) would be more than happy to help out.

I'm only concerned about punishing doctors that perform abortions illegally. The example I gave earlier had to do with back alley abortions.

You are right about the fact that I don't want to educate woman on having a abortion.

I live in Oregon which has a excellent social system for kids and for the most part I have no problem with it and I support it. We must always put our children first.

No Simpson... one thing is to be the spelling police. Another is to not write properly time and time again. That second sentence plus your frequent abscesses in reading carefully say a lot not about people like elmcitymaven, but of you. Just you.

No, we don't. There are uninsurable people who don't have choices and they are told: ** you. There are people that cannot afford health insurance let alone health care and they are told: ** you. These make up the tens of thousands of people that die each year for no other reason than not being in a position to afford the life saving health care they need. And largely the same people that wrap themselves in this "pro-life" blanket tell them that that's just too bad but there really isn't anything we want to do about it. Sorry, but there's no credibility in the so-called pro-life argument. None.

I would like to go on record in stating that I do not want to be locked in a cellar and/or tied to a bed by Simpson.
