K2 Visa with K1 Visa

Hi everyone, got a question regarding visa fees. I'm taking my kid with me and would like to know we'll be paying twice -- one for me, and one for my lil girl.

Also, the father's info is not included in the kid's birth certificate. Considering this, will there still be a need to provide the following documents: 1) a court order from a court in the children's country of residence allowing the children to immigrate to the US; or 2) a notarized letter from the father allowing the children to immigrate to the US.

Yyes u pay each for each visa.

If you are not legally married to the child's father and u have sole custody of the child then u do not need a court order but you will still need the father's permission for the child to immigrate.

Thanks for the quick response! However, the father's permission would be an issue since we've lost touch for 8 years now. We've never gotten married and I have no means of finding him.

I think you won't need any authorization from the biological father since the biological mother is considered the sole authority in where the father has not taken any responsibility for his child. Some here can quote the exact Philippines Law which addresses this issue. I think I am correct on this, but others can chime in and give you the reference to Philippine law.

Ive wanted to ask this too. We have the same situation. I have a kid ( a son) who's gonna be on K2 visa. Anyways, I also didnt listed his father's name on his birth certificate as well. I'm just assuming no documents will be asked from the father since no one's listed. Still dont know what'll happen though cause I'm still waiting for my NOA2.And I havent completed the process yet. anyways, I'll try to keep you posted just in case.

Why don't you all just email the Embassy and ask them? What is so hard about that? They are the ones who will make any decision and know what they want.

The Moscow Embassy folks always answered my emails; they are American citizens, so of course they will be nice especially to fellow USCs.

Thanks, guys for the replies. We're still on the 30+ days count but I just wanna be prepared for when we get the NOA2. I hadn't done much (or any) research at all. My fiancée's doing all that. But this seems so real now and so i decided to pitch in.

I would appreciate any updates or info that could shed light into my situation.

The BC has no father listed, then the consulate does not know who the legal father is. As a result, who would the consulate want the letter be signed and notarized from?

Hello AlienAmerican - If the father's info is not listed in the BC of your child, then no court order needed and no notarized letter needed too from the father. This based on my experience. Hope this helps.
