Any swiss sharing experience with us embassy bern

NVC sent out our case on April 28th and I think the us embassy in Bern, Switzerland received the case on May 3rd. I sent an Email last week to ask if they received our case, but I did not get a response yet. There is no chance to contact them by phone, only by email.

Does someone know how long it will take to receive Packet 3 and what documents I need to send in. I did researches, but I guess not many people go trough this embassy.

For any advice or sharing experience I am really thankful.

Thanks

Hi Swiss miss,

We are going thru the same thing you are right now we have received packet 3. It usually took a couple of days to clear customs and then another week or so for the embassy to send us packet #3.(don't worry you will get your papers soon!!) :)

Here is a link of what they are going to need from you guys. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

the packet will list anything else they need. They sent my fiance the two ds-156 and ds-156k forms. Thought the ones they sent were expired as of last september. But maybe they don't really care about that part. We are just waiting for a police clearance from his birth country and then we will try to shedule an interview. I tried to call this morning to see if we can call and schedule and interview. They had given me a number to call that schedules interviews. Yeah after paying 15 euro we found out we can't that number was only for tourist visas . The lady I spoke with on the phone was so RUDE and very unwilling to help.I thought since I paid for the service I would get more help then the USCIS. NOPE!! I could use more colorful words to describe her but I won't. So I called the embassy back in Bern and was told to email them. I have emailed them to schedule an interview and now I am just waiting to hear back. Lets keep in touch here and we can update eachother on where we are at and was happened so far. It's really stressful doing this almost all alone. :) If you have any questions feel free to stop by my profile and leave a comment or PM me. We need all the help we can get!

Hi sunny,

thank you so much for your response. it feels good to know someone else is going trough the same embassy... I experienced the same as you did. I also called the expensive line. No success......well patience one more time;-) I prefer to talk to someone on the phone but I guess there is no other chance to reach them than by email.

Thanks for the link you added. Yes, I am the beneficiary and I think we have almost all the necessary documents together. I just wondered if we need DS-230 as well.

Ok, lets keep in touch. We are almost there:-)

Good luck to both of us :star:

I haven't actually seen the letter it's self but there was no mention of the ds-230 when he read it to me. They had sent him two ds-156 and 1 ds-156k, the i134 affidavit of support and the biographical but I sent that one in for him when I sent in the petition. So unless they mention it in the list of documents they need dont' need it.

sorry I wish they would let you edit longer. But anyways we emailed the embassy yesterday and they replied they do need the DS-230. Here is a link of the forms you can get a jump on of what they will need. The embassy does send you the forms they need from you. I don't know if you have seen this link of the K-1 forms you may need to fill out. Click on the K-1 Visa Fiance forms. and it will give you all the forms they mayask for ir you want to get a jump on things.

I will be going thru this embassy as well, but probably not until Nov/Dec. I would appreciate if you could provide info on the interview process with Bern. It appears they dont do many interviews in Bern as there are no recent reviews on here. Please keep me posted on your processes. Thanks!

My fiance is going for his interview in Bern tomorrow, so I will be sure to post a review on his behalf. It's definitely helpful to read about others' experiences :)

He has also been trying to call the embassy to get some answers. At first he had a lot of trouble - getting transferred around, long recordings, only voicemails, etc. but later he discovered that if you dial "0" you get connected to an operator who doesn't know the answers to your questions, but can transfer you directly to the person who does know the answer (and not just their voicemail!). That has been extremely helpful for us.
