Hello my fellow filers, so tonight I was talking to Ahmed and he brought up a valid point. He wants to introduce me to another American.Egyptian couple so that I will have another fellow American woman to talk to and hang out with while I am in Cairo awaiting his interview. And I got a fabulous idea! as I always do LOL... I thought maybe I could start a topic here on VJ to find other ladies like me that are heading to Cairo to either wait out the interview and possible AP and we could maybe exchange emails for once we are there and maybe meet up for tea and shopping or even have dinners together with our husbands! Wouldn't that be FABULOUS?!?! Ahmed sometimes works long hours and I find myself alone and bored, I mean how many times can a girl do their hair and paint their nails in a day! So if anyone is interested in possibly getting together while our hubbys work or getting together for dinners with the hubbys or just chatting it up, its always nice to hear another person speaking English lol not to mention the expense to call home to hear that voice lol.... let me know I think it would just add to an already awesome time in Cairo! I a leaving May 16th for Cairo.

Amber

I just want to say, this is an awesome idea! I really hope you locate someone. Being in a foreign country can be lonely even when you are with your man and I know each time I have gone to see my fiance, even if only for 1 or 2 weeks, every time I heard someone speaking English with an American accent I just wanted to go beg to be a part of their conversation!

I wish you both the best of luck at the interview and finding a buddy to hang out with!

Hello, first may I say wooooow what a lightening fast journey you hve had!

I have met some awesome ladies that are Egypt filers such as myself that will be going over to Cairo so soon and I wanted to find a way for us all to communicate in an open forumn in hopes of doing just that, while it is awesome to go be with our husbands, I do find myslef starved for companionship and the English language and I thought hmmmm if I feel like this I am sure there are others like myself too. I know what you mean, I have had to stop myslef from running over to others speaking English with an American accent before while i n Cairo  But that doesnt mean I am not thrilled to be in Cairo with Ahmed but sometimes a taste of home goes a long way to feed one's soul when away so far. Here is hoping I do find some friends to talk to, and here is hoping all of us do! Best wishes to you and your husband on your visa journey too!

We could look at starting a Jabbster group, which is somewhat like Facebook only it's private. We could keep up with each other there as far as dates of visits, coffee shop meet-ups, etc.

Passing harsh judgment on those you don't know says nothing of the judged and everything of the judge.

How AWESOME is that!

I agree with you we should do it. I mean honestly I am over the moon about being with my husband, but its something about girl talk and getting together over coffee that just lifts ones' spirits! I am in, now how do we go about making it happend?

BTW did I tell you AWESOME idea?!?!

I've made a group, just PM me with an email address that I can send invitations to and we can keep up with each other there! You can post photos and events, etc. Should be a nice little addition for those of us who will be doing some travel to Egypt and those of us who might be living there for a time.

Anyone who is in or might be in Egypt is welcome to join... Or if you'd just like to be able to keep up with all of us, just shoot me a PM!

:dancing:Six more days for you Amber!!!!! YAY!!!!:dancing::dancing:

I love this idea too Amber and Donna.... It's great to have a connection with others in your shoes...As much as I love being there and miss living there when I'm back here, I find myself not being homesick but craving the conversation and just general understanding we would have of one another and our situations....We generally don't make it to Cairo much unless it's for a specific purpose like airport or embassy, but I know we definitely want to come and spend a couple days at some point.. as well as we are both wanting to go to Dreampark, it would be so much more fun having another couple or even a group of people to hang out with there.

I love the jabster idea too, count me in!

Yesssssssssss 6 more days!!! YAY! :dancing: I am over the moon!!! :dancing:

Count us in for the Dreampark trip! It would be awesome to have time together with other couples like ourselves!

Ahmed has so many friends in Cairo, but not couples like us. As I am so sure all of you have other couples to hang with but not couples in the same situation. Also there is a double benefit to all of this meet n greeting... think of once we are all in the states? The friendships we develop can be friendships that carry over past the process, and our hubbys can have someone to call and possibly visit when they are homesick or in need of some Arabic convo! lol

So I am all for this idea.... keep in touch ladies, really I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!

So happy for the both of you. You will finally be able to start your life togther with Ahmed.

Hoping to join you soon as soon as we get an interview date. B-)

Wendy... there is my southpole sister (F) .. how are you? I was so busy with exams and trying to keep my mind off of time and the visa process. Really I am hopeful for us all to see a July interview, though I have to admit I broke down and phoned the NVC, what can I say the workers in the NVC are like family now! Anyhow I am hopeful for us but I have decided no more calling the NVC or Embassy or

anyone else, I am going to let it be a surprise, one day I will open the ole email and :goofy: SURPRISE!!!

Really I keep you in prayer for an interview date so soon, and that you will be with Ahmed faster faster  .

I am excited to be leaving in 5 days!!! Keep in touch will you?
