Comfort Needed - NVC

Hey VJ'ers...

I don't know if I am alone in feeling this way or not, but does anyone else feel like they totally screwed everything up and have no idea what they're doing or what comes next?

I read and read and I'm not sure I'm finding the right info online anywhere and I'm so terrified this process is going to be delayed even longer than it has.

I have opted in to the Electronic Processing with Montreal, which means, as far as I know, I am sending everything via email and bringing the originals to the interview (if I ever get one).

Thus far;

- NVC Case Number Assigned

- Optin Electronic Processing

- Choice of Agent Address Form Submitted/Accepted

- Paid $88 AOS Fee

- Paid $404 IV Fee

- Completed DS260 Online

- April 12, 2011 Submitted DS-260 Supporting Documents (Rec'd Confirmation Email)

- April 26, 2011 Submitted AOS (Rec'd Confirmation Email)

- May 4th, Received 2 Checklists stating my case is under review but I must submit DS-260 Supporting Documents and My Affidavit of Support *sigh*

I assumed because of this E-Filing they just hadn't realized i had already sent them in these documents because the 20-business day bit hasn't passed but it still made me nervous, because the check-list stated that I had to include the Checklist Barcode and Letter, as well as indicated I had to have the case number on the top right hand corner of every page submitted. So, to go on the side of caution I re-did and re-sent everything.

But seriously, I am sending them scanned copies of Birth Certificates, photos, passports, etc., in PDF file. Do they not realize the technical difficulty in getting those numbers on, at the end, nearly 70 pages of documentation.

Anyway, So now wait - worried I did something wrong. Worried I am missing vital steps. Worried I'm going to get denied based on some stupid error =(

Do I need to have my finger prints done before the interview?

Do I need 4, rather than 2 passport photos?

I have a Co-Sponsor, do I need their 'original' pay-stubs and W-2's, birth certificate, etc., or will copies suffice?

Is there anything else I need to do or do I just wait?

Also, my father is currently going through the immigration process as well. He's been married 10 years to his wife, who is American. She immigrated here originally but now they want to move back down the USA. They filed while they were here and their case was *supposed* to be 6 weeks but due to someone screwing something up, they're just now trying to schedule their interview.

Thing is, they have to schedule it online and my Dad has been trying for days and keeps receiving the "No available appointments" message. Is this insane or what? How can there be NO available appointments? I mean, even if it's 6 years from now - there should be available appointments?

Is that the same for us? For some reason I was under the impression that they automatically assigned the interview date? Does anyone know?

If you got through reading this.. HUGE props and thanks for letting my vent =(

Cheers,

Novella

Hi,

You need to relax :) You've done everything right!

Unfortunately, I've seen NVC issue these "RFEs" for quite a few people. It seems like even though you submitted the packages already, they're saying you haven't. Let's hope they get to both of your packages soon.

For your questions, no you don't need to have fingerprints done before the interview. They'll be done when you're at the consulate for the interview.

At the interview, you just need 2 passport pictures. And for the medical, you'll need 3.

Copies of W2s and pay stubs are alright, but I'm not sure on the birth certificate. They might want to see the original. Would you be able to borrow an original or certified copy of your co-sponsor to bring to the interview? They won't keep it, they just want to verify that is indeed an original/certified copy.

Basically, right now, you have to wait for NVC to close your case. The only thing you can be doing right now is gathering all documents and evidence for the interview and make sure you have all required vaccinations for when you have to do the medical.

I've only heard of scheduling interviews online for fiance visas, so I'm not sure why your father is doing it online. As for the no appointments, if you go to the Canada sub-region, there have been a lot of threads recently popping up about there being no appointments available. Tell your father to just keep trying. If someone cancels, then availability will open up. Perhaps he'll get lucky. If not, he'll have to wait till Montreal posts more available spots.

As for you, for IR-1/CR-1 visas going through Montreal, NVC will schedule the interview for you. The only thing you have to do with the online system is select a DHL location for your visa and passport to be shipped to after the interview.

I'm one of the filers that NVC messed everything up for. I feel like I am NEVER going to get an interview too. Emailed my supporting docs on 2/25 and they still have not reviewed them. It doesn't matter that it's been over 20 days, even my senators office wasn't able to get anywhere with them. I'm going on 10 months here.

Good luck, I hope NVC gets their act together!

I completely understand your frustration and worry. Looks like you and I are pretty much neck and neck with our cases!! We've got everything in now... we just have to wait again. Of course, like you, I'm worried that something will show up incorrectly or "they never received" something (even though everything has been "confirmed" as received in emails. We just have to hang tight and know that we are doing it right and it WILL get thru one way or another.

I am antsy cause I have a certain "window" of time that I really really really need the interview to land on to be the easiest for me with travelling (having kids and needing time off of work and childcare, etc) and if anything happens now (with an RFE) it could delay that interview timing. Of course i realize that nothing is set in stone and we'll deal with it however it happens.

Try not to obsess much (lol yeah right!) and start getting ready for your biometrics appointment. Check your immunizations now with your local dr. and get 3 passport pictures ready. Also order a copy of your medical file as well (I know down here in the US, they prefer a few days notice to pick it up). Like the others said too... start getting the originals ready and I dont' know if you read it in the guide, but go ahead and print out the DS-230 (the paper version of the DS-260) and fill it out (dont' sign I think). According to others at the interview (Saylin included) they still ask for that form to be filled out there and if you already have it... that just saves you 15 more minutes. :)

I plan to take all originals of my co-sponsor's things with me. I know it's asking a lot but it's not asking anything more than what they have already agreed to do for us. Of course, that's easy for me, cause my co-sponsor is my dad and I can just get those from him in hand and take them because I am going to the interview with my husband, but I realize that's not always the case. I f you can get them easily... great... if not... I wouldn't worry too much about those papers. I really would be shocked for them to request seeing a co-sponsor's birth certificate in person when they aren't even there or not even the petitioner. If you can get their most current tax return (this year) to take along, that ought to be plenty.

Hang in there girl!!! If we're both lucky... we'll get interviews on the same day. Wouldn't that be an amazing HOOT!? Sure would make the experience better!
