I bought my wife's ticket via Delta's Website with my credit card. When we arrived at the gate to check in this morning, they asked to see the credit card to confirm the numbers.

The person who purchased the ticket (the one with the name on the credit card) would be advised to go to t Delta ticket window at their local airport and show their id. There have been accounts on this board that delta has refused boarding if the person with the ticket does not have the credit card with them. I aksed at a Delta ticket counter when at the airport and they confirmed that sometimes when tickets are purchased in the US for flights originating in foreign countries and the person who purchased the ticket is not traveling that they may ask for the credit card at the airport. The easiest thing is for the person named on the credit card to go to their nearest Delta ticket counter sometime before the flight and show an id. Not saying you will be asked everytime but it would suck to get to the airport and not be able to board. Better be safe than sorry.

When I tried to purchase the ticket for my fiance I noticed on the purchasing agrement that it stated something about showing the credit card at the departure airport. I ended up sending her the money and she purchased the ticket locally.

They will want to see the card. I left my wife a prepaid card so I just used it to buy the ticket online (you could send her one DHL and do the same). You should check with Delta and see if they'll accept a photocopy of your card from your wife. There are a few members here who have gone about it that way I know.

Your stepfather will need to go to the local airport and have the card verified. Sometimes the ticket office is closer but rarely. Also sometime ( frequently) another airline can actually do the vefication if Delta doesn't fly into the nearest airport to your stepfather. It would be best if he knows the passport number of the intended passenger so they can note the ticket.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

When in doubt, call Delta and be straight up. They'll want your business and will tell you what is the proper way to do it so it can happen. Delta E ticket rules look under credit/debit card presentations. They said card holder could go to local delta ticket office to present and all would be accepted. Good luck!

My stepdaughter and mother-in-law departed NAIA last month via Delta. I purchased their tickets using Expedia. They were not questioned regarding whose credit card was used. Of course, they just showed the etickets and boarding passes were printed for them.

I'm not sure why this would be an issue. I have heard that Philippine Airlines does not allow passengers to board if their ticket was purchased by someone other than the passenger. However, I don't think that other airlines, like Delta or Asiana, would impose that ridiculous requirement.

Anyway, I hope this helps you somewhat. As others have mentioned, it is best to have documents ready (photocopy of IDs, authorization letter, etc). Good luck with your trip!

DELTA is one of the worst airlines in USA

They are the most dangerous and have had the only 2 plane crashes in D/FW airport history

Delta stands for
