Hi Everyone I hope someone can help me. I am in a very big turmoil here and I really don't know what to do.

My mom petitioned me 5 1/2 years ago when she moved to the US, she is a permanent resident and was petitioned by her sister (My aunt) who is a citizen. I am 28years old and our petition was approved this past December. I have basically done everything required as well as mailed out all paperwork. This evening I was sent an email from the visa center stating that my mom does not meet the minimum requirements for sponsorship and that we basically may opt for a second sponsor. (they also mentioned that the interview date would be given regardless and that ultimately the decision would be made during the interview)

I was just wondering what may happen if we can not find a Joint/Co-sponsor and the possibilities of being provided the approval for the residency are, if anyone may know? I would hope that my current Manager position and a well known computer company and tenure would be helpful. I've been there for 8 years and a stable employee. But I am honestly not sure what type of questions I will be asked or if that will even matter.

I also wanted to mention that I met someone over two years ago and we got engaged this past October, he currently lives in New Hampshire and is a born citizen. We opted not to do the K1 process due to the original petition process already taking affect. Because I just received this news I haven't been able to discuss him being the second sponsor, he was also recently hired in his current job (March) and is working part time as he is a grad student.

I'm very frightened at this point, and I, of course want to make sure I do everything possible to receive my approval.

Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Are you currently working in the US? If so you should be able to self sponsor, if I'm not mistaken.

Never mind, I read your message again and noticed you talked about applying for a K1 visa, so I guess you are still living and working in Costa Rica.

If you don't find one you won't be approved for a visa. your mother has to prove that when you come to the US you won't become a public charge.

They don't care about your job, that's why your mom has the option that if she doesn't make enough over the poverty guidelines, she can find a joint sponsor.

Yep I am currently working and living in Costa Rica.

as stated a co-sponsor must join the petition .. no choice. IF that does not happen then no visa will be given. IF the Fiancée join the petition then he would need to meet the income requirement as well... correct unless your employment will continue (i.e. transfer) once you get to the USA then it does not matter become the income STOPS.

Thank you for the answers. My cousin will be doing the joint sponsorship with my mother. Praying for the best now. :)
