I understand if there is religious reasoning, I guess... but otherwise, WHY? And we should encourage people to use CONDOMS (and bathing), not rely on something that does not provide anywhere near 100% protection of STDs.

It should not be done at all, until the child becomes an adult, and can make an informed decision on whether or not to desensitize the head of his ####### by removing the protective sheath the Creator put there for a reason.

I don't think the risk of STD's for preteen or infant males is significant enough to warrant genital mutilation.

Don't tell me you're a Deist. Somehow your words belie your true feelings. We are talking about the Filipino kids, who are, presumably Roman Catholic and follow Abraham by extension. They are obviously not actual descendants of Abraham, only spiritual ones. You might argue whether or not it's required as per St. Paul. Still, it's not like someone grabbed a Hindu or a Buddhist and forced them to be circumcised.
