If the pilot starts thinking an airplane is a ship I am not getting on his flight.

The FAA and DHS makes the rules. The airline he works for sets the policy under which he keeps his job.

#5 and #7 are not baiting as Steven posted a copy of the news article to which Darnell responded asking for his position as he did not provide one. When the threads were merged, Steven's post was no longer first so posts 5 and 7 appear somewhat out of context. The comment about 'if they are not considered baiting because of who made them' however, does come across as baiting. Moderation decisions are made based upon posts viewed in context and not on 'who' makes them.

Post # 14, btw, is a personal attack. An additional post containing a much stronger personal attack has also been removed.

As far as things "appearing out of context" - I don't agree with that. Darnell's first post (#5) queries Steven, but he then repeats himself at Post #7. Pretty insistent, don't you think? Pretty much like baiting, don't you think? Something our friend does often - and well.

Anyway, at the end of the day, you are the Mod and I am just a lowly member. I recognize your ability to wave the selective magic edit wand whenever and wherever you please. (I should add I am now referring to the abilities and powers of the entire moderation team.) We lowly members cannot open a forum without being subjected to some of the most extremely offensive personnae ever to grace the internet. So for the record, just consider me another lowly member who is morosely tired of watching social retards ruin the atmosphere of a place that once helped me in a crucial time of my life. The air of VJ is rank with racism, sexism and just plain old stupidity. And if we (or perhaps I should say I) raise a voice against the deliberate perpetrators of this atmosphere, we are deleted and thread banned.

I haven't been here long enough to notice those thread bans, but I certainly have noticed the permissive attitude at times towards overly racist commentary and innuendo on this section of the site. How much of that we allow in the spirit of 'free speech' is up to the site administration I guess... but how much tasteless stupidity do we allow to take up bandwidth? Questions I doubt we will see a satisfactory answer to as I believe the perpetrators of such behavior are likely only doing so to frankly antagonize certain populations (of posters, as their bigotry pretty much remains on this site most likely- they are probably cowards in real life).

Back to topic...

The pilot was wrong and the passengers that displayed their paranoia should probably seek some form of education about diverse cultures, religions, and what are extremist elements within religions and how they can be generalized.

Too many paranoid Americans these days. Maybe there's something in the water that is affecting neurological health.

But prior -

The Captain of the Plane DID have final say as to who could come on board. 99.99 % of the time it was just a simple courtesy, but in those rare times that a passenger was asked to leave, the airlines backed up the Captain.

As for now? today-ish? Surely he had his reasons, I don't think it was fueled by racism at all. Perhaps he was lax, prior, in any racial profiling on Islamic Terrorists, but, at the end of the day, supposedly it was the TSA that made the request, and not the Pilot.

Prior, a Captain of an airplane had wide discretionary power for not only who came on board, but real time sanctions for unruly behavior whilst the plane was in transit.
