Tanya and her mother exchange letters via USPS every two weeks. Haven't missed one yet. She also sent a care package full of goodies to her son. Arrived safe and unmolested.

Thanks all, I got a quote at the post office today for Global Express and at 5.2 pounds, 3 -5 day delivery, the cost will be 55 USD. This is what I will do.

Otlichna!

I sent several packages via Global Express and never had a problem. For around $50, you can't beat it.

That 3-5 day estimate is the time it takes to get to Russia. It'll probably take another 3-5 weeks to get to her house. Just keep that in mind. It's not going to be a few days... more like a few weeks. Don't freak out if she doesn't get it right away.

We've sent tons of packages over the last few years USPS and never had any problems...usually takes about 2-3 weeks to get there and prices are relatively cheap. For sending things the other direction (big things), we use Meest. Maybe it depends on the city or we are just lucky.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

We actually use Meest to ship items that are not time critical, but otherwise we have used USPS and never had a problem.

I was quoted 352 USD at FedEx to send interview docs to Lena. I know a previous thread discussed this topic. Question: is USPS (Priority) a reliable and secure method of sending documents under 6 pounds?

I only paid $98 to send to Dubai. $352 is a bit high.

Those are circa '05 so it probably is much higher now!

I haven't shipped anything over there since she got here so I honestly have no idea. I know when I stand in line for stamps it says "Starting at $17" up on the board.
