I was thinking of guys (or girls) who get so intoxicated by the attention when they find some one who starts talking the talk, that they just seem to loose their minds.

Me too. Just because someone says they are something doesn't make it so. Best to check it out and when things they do and say don't add up, then stay away.

I suppose I got scammed a bit by women in Odessa when I lived there, not that I minded so much. I know in one case I agreed to meet a woman I had met at a particular club. When I got there, she had three of her hot girlfriends with her...

I sat down and the waitress promptly presented me with their "tab" so far...more than 1200 UAH (about $240 at that time) and they were just getting started! I said "Nice to meet you all, good night" and left.

Other times I spent the evening with dinner, clubs, etc. and then came the excuse to go home early. Oh well, at least I got dinner also. But who cares, I was just having a good time, soent the evening with a hot chick, had a nice dinner...who loses?

Contrary to the belief, people in Russia aren't poor to the point to ask for $$ to be sent "in order to survive". She has internet, speaks english? - she can take care of herself, trust me. Moreover normal russian woman would rather show her resistance in accepting money or expensive gifts, kind of like "are you buying me?" attitude. :) Knowing that would save $ome good $$ to $ome.

My girl is not so modest. Will accept anything and likes spending other people's money  She's traveling in London right now and picked a 5 star hotel to stay at, $450/night. It's on her company's dime so she didn't hesitate to pick a pricey one.

 They are all tricksters! We had a party here Sunday and one of the single women was whining about not having a man. Alla told her that she has to "pretend to be real nice until they marry you and then..." Then she turned around and saw me standing there.

 Yeah, I guess my girl is a little different in her approach. I see how good, sweet and obedient she is with her mother. I made a comment on how I thought that was wonderful (Big Mistake). She told me right away, She will not be like that with me! She is the boss in our house! I learned to keep my comments to myself!!! :bonk::rofl:

There is no question as to who is the "boss of the house". The man is the "boss outside of the house", the house belongs to the woman. Just give up on that one and your life will be much less stressful.

She's the boss?

The woman is the "boss of the house" That means she gets to choose the paint colors, tile colors, draperies, furniture, flowers, yada, yada. It also means she cooks and cleans and decides where we do the "shoe act" changing from outside shoes to inside slippers. I do the painting, installing of ceramic tile, kitchen cabinets, heavy lifting (carry bags of mulch to the flower beds) etc. It is her job to provide a safe, cozy home for her family and good food to eat. I get to pay for it. I am well known is Lowe's as "Alla's husband". Works well for me and I do not have to bother with that stuff.

Amen Brother. Liliya has already started plans to redo the house as soon as she arrives. She wants us to do that when she first gets here so we can spend time together making the house cozy. She has already had me start the garden and given me a long list of things she needed planted so she will be able to have fresh vegetables for the family to eat. She is still in Russia and she already is the boss at home.

I remodeled our first house here while we were in the process (helps pass the time, I highly recommend it) and Alla chose the ceramic tile, hardwood floors, etc. by email photos. I then primed all the walls so they could be painted when she arrived, which she agreed to, but I do not think she was ready for what an entire house looks like when it is primed white, with no curtains on any of the windows. It was like an "emergency" situation and we had to start shopping and painting right away.

Alla is not a vegetable garden girl, she does like her flowers. She says vegetables here are too cheap and easy to get that she does not need to ruin her manicure for that.

One comment after reading just a few of these reports:

The most dangerous food is Wedding Cake, si man.

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My wife got into planting a vegetable garden, and then even more so with flowers. It's getting even easier for her now. She stays in the air conditioning drinking her tea or coffee and looks outside and points and tells me "plant these flowers there, those over there, and plant new tomatoes at the back of the vegetable garden. While you are there, pull all weeds. Do it NOW."
