I found this really interesting and useful document "Port of Entry Examination Manual" for Canada when I was searching for information on whether an US Native American is allowed to enter Canada under the Jay Treaty rights. ( The US recognizes Jay Treaty rights and allows anyone with proven 50% First Nations blood to move to the US, but Canada places immigration requirements over Jay Treaty rights except for First Nations members registered under the Indian Act in Canada - in case anyone was interested :) ).

This Manual basically discusses what Border Authorities look for and how they handle individuals who arrive at the Canadian border requesting admission. We receive questions from US partners about travelling to Canada to visit their significant others pretty regularly, so here is a useful guide both as to what to expect and what is required for entry to Canada.
