My husband and I have just filed for AOS from a K-1 Visa. He has moved 4 times since beginning K-1 due to shifting in our apartment complex, and the initial move in here (trying to get a better location/bigger place). We have been providing USCIS with his parents address, which is where I was originally living when I had been here previously temporarily, and in the beginning this time. All of our mail, such as telephone bills, bank statements, joint account statement etc. go to his parents house as they have a steady address. We just realized, however, that if chosen for an AOS interview, our proof of marriage will need to include our rental agreement for our current place, and the joint utilities that we have here. The address on these documents is different from our residence according to USCIS. I am curious if I should be changing my address with USCIS fully, if I can change the mailing address, or if I should keep things the same and explain it for AOS? We intend for mail to go to his parents house as the mail boxes in our apartment shifts ever time a change happens with us - not sure if this is the end yet, but fingers crossed!

We could just not use those documents, but I did not change my last name, we don't have rings, we had a very small civil ceremony and plan to have a committment ceremony down the road in a year or so, and we have separate health care as mine was too expensive to add to his work health care. Just afraid this is going to seem illegitimate through USCIS's eyes. What would my best course of action be here with addresses? Either way, documents are going to show two separate addresses for some docs.

Have you applied for AOS yet? If not then why just apply for it using the address you both stay in now? It doesn't have to be the same address that you used for the K1. The lease in itself that has both your names is good, and you can have people like his parents or neighbors to make a sworn/notarized statement that you both live together. A big wedding doesn't matter as long as you have some pictures to show, and the certificate. How about a joint bank account, or him adding you to the car insurance? And joint cellphone bills? It doesn't matter that you have separate health care, I would think. If you are really together I don't think there is anything to worry about because the worse thing that could happen is a stokes interview, but if you live together and know everything about each other then you would be able to answer it without problems. :)

For me and my fiance, we live with his parents so we used his parents address. We pay them rent so we don't have bills to show. I am listed in his car insurance and we have a joint bank account and cellphone account. I am not on his healthcare too. :)

Hope that helps somewhat and I would just say don't worry about it and just file for AOS :)

I called USCIS and told them I just want to change the mailing address but physical address is still the same. So far everything's working out fine.

We filed for AOS on May 3 with his parents address. I think I will just call and tell them that the mailing addy will stay the same, but our physical address has changed. Then we can provide the lease to them at the appointment if we get one.

I am curious, for walk-in biometrics, can you just go in advance of your appointment? I would LOVE to do this to speed up the process. Otherwise I will wait it out, but I didn't know this was an option...

Some offices allow walk-ins, others don't. If you live close you can try and see if they will let you do it. It doesn't always speed up the process but sometimes it does.
