Hi all,

me and my husband(USC) currently live in his parents house.we moved in in August last year, but we started paying rent just this February,so on the rental agreement that we all are about to sign the dates wont match the dates on my g325a,so can my parents-in-law write something like an affidavit stating that we've been staying in their house since Aug2010 and we didnt start paying rent until Feb2011?...Can someone please give an example of what exactly they need to write? What the statement should look like?

Thank you!

Sure they can. But if your in-laws are the landlords, and you are the tenants, wouldn't it be easier to draft a new rental agreement that reflects the dates in question?

I see it like this: you had a little fender bender with a car that you borrowed from a friend. Now a guy is willing to write a letter that it wasn't really your fault, cause the obstacle was difficult to see. He wants $300 for it. For the same $300, you can buy a new fender and have it painted to match and mounted. Why spending the money on a letter to explain instead on fixing the issue?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

right!,but see they are not as understanding as you would think to sign a rental agreement with 'fake' dates...they are very particular about stuff like that and are very careful what they are signing..

but do you have an idea of what the statement should sound like??free text? or does it have to be very formal??

Quick question: does this letter needs to be notarized or just sign from the parent will suffice?

Letters like that should be notarised wherever possible (turning them into sworn affidavits).

Many thanks, i am going to get this notarized today.

Question:

Do i have to be specific about the usage of the space of the house and about the $ i am paying?

Currently, me and my wife have been living with the in-laws since 20011 and i have been contributing to the mortgage and utilities by paying cash..

i am just wondering if i have to be specific in this letter about the monthly $ i pay and usage of the space of the house.

please advise

Below is my affidavit:
