hi guys

just want to share my experience to get the police cert.

i went to downtown Toronto to get the police cert and the fee is $35 plus GST (which is $37.10).

Besides the police officer asked me to come back to pick up the certificate about a week later (even though they can send it to me by mail???)i don't know why.... :hehe:

anyway, please bring two pieces of photo IDs to get the police cert

(as i didn't know to bring 2 pieces of ID, so i have to come back again, so stupid !!)

26/06/07 - biometrics appointment

02/17/07 - AP and EAD arrive

03/03/08 - Infopass - where the heck is my AOS interview?? No one knows!

Vancouver is $42 ? That's crazy it should be the same across the board. Niagara Falls, RCMP Comissionaires was $25.00 flat with no tax.

01-02-09 - Received GC in mail (with wrong Resident Since date) (Day 101)

It's procedure to go back and pick it up. Cause if they discover that there's a warrant out for your arrest while doing the police check then they can arrest you when you're dumb enough to go back and pick it up. :yes:

There is no such thing as uniformity!! Prices differ and so do the forms. 1 would think when dealing with a govt organization they would be the same, not!! Was free for me in 2004 while for others it wasnt!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Do not opt to have it mailed to you, mine did not make it to me and I had to apply & pay again.

2005

Sept 10 I-129F sent to TSC

2006

Interview - February 13th APPROVED! day 152

April 6 - wedding date day 204

Aug 22 - AOS interview date day 101-total days 342

Sept 29 - green card arrives, done until June 2008 day 140-total days 381

2008

June 30 - I-751 mailed total days 1025

2009

March 9 - Removal of Conditions approved! total days 1277

The cost is crazy. $42!! It was recently updated on their website for the Vancouver office.

This whole process is expensive. From this point on, it will cost me over $600 to get to the border. And that doesn't include moving.

04/13/06 - I-129F mailed

04/18/06 - NOA1

08/30/06 - NOA2

09/26/06 - received at NVC

I got mine from the RCMP for free in Jasper earlier this summer, and waited about a minute to get it. :thumbs:

I need another one for the K3, so I'm going to wait til I'm back there in a couple of weeks. :innocent:

how? I paid $25 for mine in Regina.

Because my permanent residence is in a small town not actually in Regina, the man at the RCMP on the phone said that I would get it free of charge because of this - it even posts this on the posters located in the RCMP office that I got it from. If i was from Regina I would also have had to pay $25
