Okay, this is not actually for me. A friend of mine does not want to post on here for some odd reason, so I am being that good friend and helping her out. Okay, her fiance was denied an immigrant Visa from the Canadian Embassy when his father tried to get him in Canada. This happened like 6 years ago. The Canadian Embassy requested a DNA test and his father who is on his Birth Certificate proved not to be his father. Him and his father has not spoken since that day. On the DS-156 #36 it states "Has Anyone Ever Filed an Immigrant Visa Petition on Your Behalf" What should he answer on this question "Yes" or "No". This is another Embassy Canada not US. She is just afraid this will bring up other question which he has no proof of because his father has everything. This is somewhat of a weird question but anything with Immigration is weird.

The DS form refers to applications for immigration to the USA, not Canada. You friend's fiance should enter NO as the answer. His attempt to immigrate to Canada has nothing to do with his K-1, and he should not mention it because it has no relevance.

The DS156 is an application for a non immigrant visa. Your friend is not applying for a visa. The foreigner is. An I-129F is not an "immigrant visa petition", so the answer is no.
