Hello all,

I registered on this site because Im looking for some help and guidance. My fiance and I are just now starting our k1 visa process, gathering documents and getting our evidence to shown we have physically met (which was dec2010/jan2011 in the philippines). I have misplaced my passport or even lost it somehow and I'm not sure how we can submit our packet without it. I still have all my boarding passes, pictures, reciepts and such but my passport with my entry stamps is not to be found anywhere. How can we explain this and still apply. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Eddie

I'm not sure which country it was that you visited or how strict immigration is from that country, but I don't think it's NECESSARY to provide a picture of the passport stamps. I think it's good for proof and many people (myself included) send copies of it when mailing in the Petition (which we've not yet done). The boarding passes are also good proof of visiting. I would think one major reason to need your passport would be for proof of citizenship if you don't have a birth certificate from the US. Not sure if all info's correct - just telling what I've read. Good luck. Hope someone else has a definite answer for you.

Thanks for some quick replies,

I would think that I have enough evidence of my visit and of our relationship. Just the big NO Passport and it didnt dawn on me that it was misplaced till tonight when I started to look for it.

Thanks

Eddie

Look all over for it, if you really cant find it and believe it to be lost, you need to report it.

After that apply for a new one.

You can use your birth cert as proof of US citizenship in lieu of a passport. Passport stamps are very helpful but not everyone gets a stamp in it when they travel eg traveling to and from Canada, my husbands US passport was never once stamped. My Canadian passport was only stamped twice in 50+ trips.

Boarding passes and hotel receipts should be sufficient. However, I suggest you download form DS-64, Statement of Lost or Stolen Passport, and submit to the US Passport Office for a new one. my thoughts to you is place your new passport in a safe place. Passports are often stolen and traded by criminals and terrorists. If you lose more than one, the Passport Office may give you a hard time.

As a US Citizen, you do not apply for a K1 visa. You'll be filing a petition, which when approved, will allow your fiancee to apply for a visa. Boarding passes are perfectly good PRIMARY evidence of meeting in person. No worries on the evidence of meeting.

My fiance lost her pasport the day after submitting our I-129F. She had sent her passport and birth certificate as proof of US citizenship with the I-129F but her passport also had entry stamps to UK etc as proof of meeting.

We got our NOA2 without an RFE or other problems.

Just make sure you report it as lost/stolen.
