how case number is determined.

i learned something new today. how the NVC determines the case number. the 3 letters the Embassy sent to,

the next four number the year NVC received. the next three numbers, the day of the year (1-362) plus 500,

the last 3 numbers is which case number that was created for the Embassy on that day.

from my case number i can see why there is a 4 month wait for an interview in Manila.

Keep in mind that for some of the applications going through Manila they do not add 500 to the julian date so that 3 digit number could be 001 or 002 ....etc. Here is the link of the list of petitions being interviewed for September. http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwfvisa.pdf

I am in shock, this list is more than double of what it was when my wife went to her interview in June 2005.
