I know that might not include a lot of people here, but I wanted to post it since it might be relevant to some of you.

It has NOTHING to do with visas; don't go to ask visa-related questions, etc. I think it is just to address the safety situation. I'll be going because my job wants someone there to see what is said. If people are interested, I'll take notes and post them here. I'll also ask questions at the Q+A if people have them, but NOT about the visa process... and you have to be a USC to go, I believe, hence the passport requirement.

Got this from the US State Dept, for those of you who are not registered with the State Department list(I highly recommend registering!):

Mr Kaplan is a nice guy, very open to talk to. We were fortunate to meet him last year at the 4th of July party at Rabat American School. If you're in Morocco, you should attend :)

Please take great notes. I will be traveling to Morocco at the end of the month to see my husband. It has been 10 months since we were together, so I will not cancel my trip. I am very interested in knowing what is to be covered and any tips that they have to make my travel safer. Please post here.

Thanks!

I'm definitely planning on going and will take notes! :) I have to for work, anyway. I'm not looking forward to the travel, but I guess I should not complain about a trip to Marrakech, right?

Just be careful of your surroundings. Please keep us posted. Thanks!

I go there a lot, HIT. Good food... :)

My daughters grandmother lives on Michlifen and I wanted to more about the area. All I know is her dad used to hang out at AMNESIA all the time but as far the neighborhood where here family lives and is from, I wanted to know more. Her grandmother is a native rabati and the grandfather now deceased was Fessi

It's a nice area, in the "downtown" area of Agdal, a nicer district in Rabat. It's not near the old medina at all, but it's a phenomenal location with upscale shopping (my friend lives almost right above a United Colors of Benneton!), and an interesting mix of upscale restaurants and little hole-in-the-wall sandwich shops. There's a Burt's Cafe and a Paul's (French chains) nearby, as well as McDonalds, KFC... you get the picture. There are even Chinese, sushi, and a Mexican restaurant near as well. In the same general area as Michlifen, there is also a TGI Fridays, a Mango store, the Lycee Descartes (French high school), and it is within somewhat close walking distance from the American school.

It's definitely upscale. I wish I could afford to live in Agdal! Someday...:)

Is that helpful at all???

one post has been removed at the OP's request

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
