It's all about context, you see.

There's enough context over in OT and P&R. Please keep that ####### outta the RUB forum. Around here, we say what we mean and mean what we say.

I also note a female from Canada deemed my post inappropriate, Well...maybe for certain women.

Interestingly enough, it was the male species who hit the report button.

Saying slim has a poor understanding of context is a TOS violation? Hopefully we can use this standard elsewhere because that sort of statement is rampant. Please advise.

It's not what you say, it's how you say it. :hehe:

Anywho.... this thread has been thoroughly derailed and fits the criteria for closure. Just sayin'.

Just in case the thread does get closed...I want to say thanks for all the kind words from so many folks. The RUB folks are a crazy mixed lot but there's a lot of great wisdom, experience, and of course humor here...it's all appreciated. I'm now proud to add "broodnay peedwhosnick" (dirty diaper) and other phrases to my vast knowledge of things to say to the dog in Ukrainian. Guess I'm going to have to work on it a lot more if I'm going to keep up with the baby! I will definitely be the best dad I can be...there is nothing more important to me than family! Looking forward a lot to all the different phases of life we are about to go through, especially the phases where we can sleep a little bit more. Anyway, thanks again everyone!

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Freedom is its own reward.

Of course I wish everyone happiness and hope they all get what the wish for and make their own dreams come true. As for me, there has been no greater pleasure, fun, laughs, worry, fright, pride,...you name it, than having kids. As a kid I never had much fun hunting unless my Dad was along and as a Dad I never have much fun shooting, going to a movie, going swimming, skiing or just about anything else unless one or more of the boys and/or Alla is with me. I skyped with Sergey yesterday and he says he is getting anxious to come home for the summer and he says "I want to go shooting! Can we shoot ALL the guns?" Um...YES!

I think I would be a very unhappy person without my family, but to each their own. I would probably have more money, but I carried my dad to put him in the ground and there was no money in that box. I hope all of mine is spent for my family before I die. I have a lot of life insurance for after I am gone.

2. I love this thread, si man.

3. I dig the RUB forum, da man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

How's this for context? If you stayed out of the RUB forum, you couldn't get modded in the RUB forum.

Anywho.... this thread has been thoroughly derailed and fits the criteria for closure. Just sayin'.

That standard could be applied to the entire RUB forum. Which is why we really don't need mods at all.

How many threads in any forum stay "on topic" for 7 pages? Or 3? Kind of silly. And who really cares? I mean, is it the desire of the VJ Mods to shut down a conversation just because it drifts off the topic that started it? When someone from another forum starts posting "fisting" T-shirts, then yeah, I guess the Mods are correct in stepping in, or at least within reason. Though, personally I couldn't care less how ridiculous someone that obviously hates us acts. We are judged by our enemies as well as our friends.

And Tbone is a good guy. When people go on their whining sprees because they had to wait 3 hours more than 5 months for their NOA2, I often think of two other members here...TboneTX and Baron555, who had things a lot tougher than most but they stuck it out and did what they had to do. I predict they will have sucessful marriages. They have the right stuff. Personally I have to stay clear of the "whiners forum" or I would be "site banned" for life in about 3 minutes.

That's a high compliment from friend Gary, si man, and earlier from friend slim. In regard to successful marriages:

1. Socrates died from an overdose of wedlock.

2. The most dangerous food is Wedding Cake.

3. Every time I inquire whether Mrs. T-B. has procured a blonde wig yet, I need to duck out of the way hurriedly. Si, man.

Edited to add: Seriously, the reason I like this forum so much is that it's quite lively (cf. Latin American in comparison), relaxed (I won't contrast it with the UK forum, at my peril), doesn't focus on gross stuff like sputum exams at St. Luke's (cf. the ___ forum), and doesn't require superfluous vowels in some of our favo(u)rite words (cf. the C eh N eh D eh forum). The posters here are extremely intelligent and humorous, si man.

Exactly why you're welcome and some others... not so much. Some folks get it. Some don't.

See you around.
