I'm confused about notarized, translated documents. Which ones are sufficient in themselves, and which must be accompanied by little book or other form of Chinese certificate in Chinese characters?

For example, original marriage certificates come in a little red book. In addition to the little red book, you also need the notarial translation in the white book. The divorce certificate is the same, ie: little book for the original certificate in Chinese characters, and white book for the notarial translation. Do the notarial translations of police and birth certificates also come with an original certificate or book in Chinese characters?

I have only the white book notarial translations of my wife's police and birth certificate and I wonder if I'm missing something here.

Thanks,

Andrew

You or your wife needs to bring your red original marriage certificate to a notary office in China to get a notarized certificate of marriage (a "white book"). Same thing to any divorce certificate if it is in Chinese. Guangzhou only accepts these "white books" but do bring all original certificates to her interview. VO may check them.

"White books" of your wife's police, birth certificate also need to be included in her P3 to NVC. If you do EP, then send a copy of these white books.

"white book" is not a notarial translation. It is legal certificate (both in Chinese and English) to prove your wife's marital status, criminal history and birth. If you or your wife can read both Chinese and English, you will find what differences between the white book and original documents which submitted to obtain the white book.

white books contain

--certified copy of original document

--notarial translation of original document

--translators translation statement

HTH !

That answers the question: the white book contains a certified copy as well as a translation. In the case of the police and birth certificates, the white book is sufficient.

Thanks for the info.

yup, the white book is sufficient. at least the ones that I have, are.

I've got some long-a$$ convo with push here about white books, it bears repetition, I'll try to find it and post the link.
