Hi All,

I need another advice on the joint bank account. We haven't created the joint bank account until recently because I hadn't been working, and my husband didn't bother of adding my name because he let me use his bank card anyway. Because of this we can't send bank statements showing that we maintained a joint bank account. We have all other evidence needed for the lifting condition. How bad is this (i.e., not having the joint bank account)? Since I'm afraid of receiving RFE and the delay because of the RFE, I'm thinking of stating the reason (why we didn't have a joint bank account initially for many months) in the cover letter. Do you think it's a good idea? Has anyone had similar circumstances?

What other quality evidence you got such as joint credit card statements, joint savings, joint property (car, condo, etc), insurance (life, health, rental)?

If you got other quality evidence, you don't need to worry much.

Thank you. We have other strong evidence (joint rental lease, joint tax files, joint health insurance, etc.). But it looks like people who don't have joint bank accounts are the ones who get the RFEs the most often. So it looks like I may have to add the explanation for that to avoid the RFE...

ROC 'evidence' focuses on the co-mingling of assets.

IMO, a joint account is the biggest and bestest thing, that ANY COUPLE can do, with minimal hassle.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Sure, you can add an explanation for not having a joint checking account. But you can show other evidence in that category: joint credit card statements; joint property; etc.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915
