We been waiting for 20 months for a I129f fiance visa they say we are still in background check . We would like to know why it is taking 20 months when the average

is 5 months. We are told that we are in secuirity background check or the last 20 months. I dont believe that should take 20 months our government to check one US citizen background. We have computer that background check can be done is matter of minutes. Neither me or my fiance have done anything that is secuirity rick.We have sent several letters and made alots of calls and received no responce to our questions from the USCIS it has been a year

SO we would like to know what is going on to our petition it is my legal right to be able to marry someone from another country and should be able to get a visa to for her to come to USA. I feel like i am treated like a crimal in my own country. I being dinied a visa in timely a matter is there anything can be done to be up process waiting? Pls help us

and i thought when i waited 7months for my approval that it sucked. 20 months is insane, its beyong the alloted timeframe they said. have you contacted any USCIS personnel? like a supervisor? it's basically what we did when our petition went beyond 5 months, service request, talked to a supervisor. . .we received a letter that our request to be adjudicated is accepted. i hope someone can shed some light on this coz 20months is insane. . . just hang in there, i read before here in VJ someone waited 2 years for their NOA2 :( stay strong :)

If you are in background check and your name sort of matches, Then they will have to do deeper checks and who know some of those checks may have to be done the old fashioned way.

Unfortunately if that is the case not even a congressman can help in that situation until the checks have finished. But you could try a senator to see if they can get you any other info. Good luck!

On the USCIS 800 call ask the first person to let you talk to a tier 2 person. I have heard they have different levels of operators and the tier 2 people have access to more information.

my husband did the calling,he asked to speak to a tier 2 personnel, they forwarded the call and talked to him about our case. he expedited our case and sent as a hardcopy mail about 5days after the call saying they forwarded our case to an adjudicator a couple of days or maybe a week we got approved. we never tried to contact any senators etc. just the Tier 2. call USCIS be reasonable, be nice and tell them to pls forward your call to a tier 2. im just sharing our experience im not saying its what u should do. i mean ur NOA2 is obviously outside the normal processing time. i would probably do whatever i can. goodluck!
