I feel like I'm the only person who thinks that the separation that we encounter due to this process is unnatural. It’s awful, but I have encountered time and time again on this site where people has posted like... oh it's just the process. To me they're out of their minds. No offense but I think that you are all crazy that think that way

So..um...you're just venting here?? We're crazy?

Umm Lisa...get out of my brain :) :)

Separation IS unnatural under normal [ie traditional] circumstances, but it's part and parcelf of an int'l love affair. Unless one is already relocated, it's to be expected.

To expect otherwise seems a bit silly and short sighted imo

DOn't get me wrong ULING, I do see what you are saying but you are saying the PROCESS sucks...which is agreed 100% BUT the main issue is HOW could we do it otherwise, while still avoiding fraud and mass migration to the states???!?!?!

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I didnt feel our lives were on hold at all. Life goes on and we knew it was only a matter of time before we were together permanently. If one sits arounds and pouts, you miss out on a lot.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I should have started another thread. After I posted this one, I realized that it's not that people's lives are not on hold. People's lives are incomplete without their other half. You are correct... life does go on. For me, I am really anticipating spending the rest of my life with my beloved and sometimes I get sad because I miss her. That's why I started this thread. Thanks for the comments and feel free to come again and express your thoughts. They are much appreciated. Cheers!!!
