THIS SATURDAY ONLY, which is Passport Day, U.S. citizens may apply directly at passport agencies without making an appointment.

Passport agencies and many acceptance facilities are normally closed on Saturdays. This is a great opportunity for all travelers . . . All 26 passport agencies, including the Department’s newest facilities in Atlanta, Georgia; Buffalo, New York; El Paso, Texas; San Diego, California; and St. Albans, Vermont, will be open to the public for extended Saturday hours. New public windows at our facilities in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, will be open as well.

I received my passport card today and CON in two separate envelopes. Good to have 3 items showing my status (all now safely stored in separate secure locations) rather than just the one as a PR. I am so relieved this whole process is over after a long 10 years...

Updating Penguin, passport book arrived in the mail today. Now just waiting for the passport card and return of CON.

I applied for my passport on site after my oath ceremony on 9/7/11, paid for express service. Passport arrived on 9/14/11, certificate returned on 9/17/11 in a priority flat rate mail, originating from DOS in NH. Not sure how/why the certificate ended up in NH when my application was accepted and presumably processed in CA.

I am thankful the game is over for good (or is it really ?).

Perhaps because of inadvertent cross timing druing posting, the entry I added just prior that by Leafgal was overridden. I just added it back.

Wow, seems like Leafgal got a much better deal, her normal service took only 10 days, my express service ($60) + overnight delivery ($12.72) is only faster by 3 days. That is a $72.62 saving she can splurge on something she likes as a celebration for completing the naturalization journey. Congrats Leafgal !!!

Passport has been mailed!!! I applied on Saturday, September 17 - Passport Day @ New York Passport Agency. Paid for routine processing and did not pay for overnight delivery - the agent said I would get it within 5 business days! I guess he wasn't pulling my leg...

Update: my landlord had a piece of mail for me that the mail carrier didn't try to stuff into the mailbox. Picked it up this morning - it contained my CON. So, I got everything back (on the same day)... :dance:

May 20, 2008: Green card approved

N-400

February 22, 2011: Sent N-400 VAWA package

February 23, 2011: FedEx package signed for and delivered

March 15, 2011: Email NOA

March 15, 2011: Check cashed

March 17, 2011: Email re: Fingerprint Notice mailed out

March 18, 2011: NOA received (Notice Date 03/14; Priority Date: 02/23)

March 23, 2011: Biometrics notice received for 03/31

Did you check the envelopes your passport and CoN came back in originated from NH ? If so, that may be why yours came back so soon with no expedition and overnight delivery fees paid. I live across the continent in the opposite end of NH, it is quite impossible to have a 4 days turn around like yours even with an extra payment of $72.72 (expedition + overnight delivery).

Count yourself lucky and enjoy your new passport !

I know I am very lucky! The envelopes were sent from the passport agency on Hudson Street in Manhattan. So glad I went there on Saturday instead of to the post office....
