File off to Consulate!!!!

I am so thrilled. I called NVC today to check on our case. The operator I spoke with asked me to read to him the receipt notice we received, the NOA2 approval notice to him, so I did. He stated to me that our file will not be going through NVC that our case is being sent directly to the consulate in Ankara. OMG so excited and now freaking out a little.

A little skeptical, I called USCIS to confirm this information 2x. Both times requesting to speak with a Tier 2 rep that could review our file thoroughly. Both confirmed, our file is not going through NVC is it be sent directly to the consulate. Sent the consulate an e-mail this evening asking them to please confirm if the file has been received as of yet.

Wow, finally some movement, and good movement. Now just wondering what the timeline is once consulate receives the file, gets the letters out to both of us requesting the required documentation that needs to be sent prior to interview.

I have heard of this happening before. I am curious to know why your file skipped NVC and went straight to the consulate. Did they say why.

The only reason I can think of is because I had requested an expedite but no they did not state specifically why.

Hi Tuana,

Just wandering what you based your expedite request on? Are they asking for a specific reason to expedite the case?

Also, after you get NOA 2, how do you track the travel of the packages? DO you have to call each time, or does this show on USCIS website when we sign in?

While a Tier 2 person and the NVC operator did say the file is not going through the NVC, they likely meant that the NVC will not be doing any processing on the case. For K visa's, the NVC is simply a mail stop for the file. It's the NVC that assigns a case number and sends it off to the Embassy or Consulate. No file goes directly to an Embassy or Consulate from a USCIS service center.
