We are comming up on our Embassy interview (June 6). I am now looking at airline tickets. I am seeing that one-way tickets for my finacee are about 50% to 125% more expensive than round-trip tickets for me on the same return flight.

Does anyone know if it will effect the return flight status for her ticket if I buy her a round-trip ticket along with mine, but her departure ticket goes unused?

Yes. Unfortunately the return flight is not valid anymore if you do not use your departure flight.

Try getting her a roundtrip out of Japan and just don't use the return flight.

If you don't fly on the first leg of the trip (or skip any leg of the ticket) then the rest of the ticket is invalidated. Best bet is to look at a round trip ticket for her starting at her country and after she gets here just call the airline and cancel the return portion. You don't have to do that, but it is just a courtesy call so they know the seat is available.

Yea the ticket is voided and you cannot use it, as when you start your journey thats when your return trip triggers.

So if you do not start a trip your return journey is not triggered at all.

If you were just using the ticket to go and u wanted to forgo your return ticket then it works.

I was told that after the interview and your spouse or fiance gets their visa that you have to buy them a round trip ticket back to their country in case they refused entry at POE (airport USA). Does anyone know if this is true of not. If it is, he needs to buy her a ticket round trip from her country to the USA back to her country.

Thanks.
