You have to send the checklist and the forms you have to fill out that they request.

Not the birth certificate.

You can bring that to the interview, thats what I did.

We got pkg 4 about 3 weeks ago. I just sent in the checklist saying I had everything.. was told not to send any originals in because they usually lose something. Just a heads up, we have been trying since April 15th to get an interview date in Montreal, right now there are no available appointments. so frustrating! lol

You can include the items requested on DS-156k, though for Montreal it is not required. I just mailed my Packet 3 this morning, and just included the checklist, seeing as the long form birth certificate is still in the mail.

Also, you do not have to wait to receive the Packet 3 instructions to mail the completed packet back. As soon as Montreal logs your petition and sends out the P3, you can fill out DS-160 and mail the other required docs. DoS will tell you when P3 has been mailed.

12/3/10 - I-129f mailed to Texas

12/10/10 - NOA1 - Petition off to California

04/14/11 - NOA2

04/25/11 - NVC sent petition to Montreal

05/02/11 - Montreal receipt, Packet 3 sent

05/04/11 - P3 docs off to Montreal

05/05/11 - P3 docs delivered to Montreal

05/09/11 - P3 logged in Montreal and Packet 4 sent

08/03/11 - Interview - APPROVED

08/05/11 - Visa Issued (Printed)

08/17/11 - Visa-in-hand

08/18/11 - POE

Is that the same for IR-1, that you don't have to wait for the packet you can just send the checklist back? Do I send the DS-230 which is the immigrant visa application along with the checklist? And (last question) where does one find the checklist if you don't wait for the packet to arrive? Oops, another question, if we did DCF can I still call DOS to see if they have received our petition? And what info do I give them to find us?

the fee is for the visa and has to be paid online if you book online using the "Permantly Immigrate-K1 fiance' visa" option from the website

$350.00 USD

you have to pay it before it will show you a calendar of available dates.... that is IF there are available dates.....(eventually there are)

good luck!!

You can see the available appointments without paying by selecting "Permanently immigrating to the US (Ready to schedule)". Should you pick that option you will have to pay at the consulate the day of your interview in cash.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012
