What can I expect to be asked at the Interview?

My husband and I got our affidavit of support signed and everything is okay. But now I am just curious as to what to expect in regards to the couples' interview? I have no idea what we are going into and I get performance anxiety over the slightest things lol, I'm a nerve ball. Anyway, is it just random stuff like what color our toothbrushes are, what was made for dinner the previous night, and how we met kind of stuff or what?

Thanks!

Also if you both know each other well, it shouldn't be a problem but do speak the truth about everything. Chances are you both won't be interviewed together and you and your spouse might be questioned separately. All the best.

There is no reason to think there would be a Stokes interview performed, unless they either miserably fail the first one, or unless there are some major red flags with their case to begin with.. in a normal interview, the couple is together the entire time, interviewed simultaneously in the same room. If you are called in for a second interview, then they have serious doubts about the validity of the marriage. You can finds tons of lists of most common questions asked in the regular AOS interview, both here on VJ and just by doing a google search. If you know each other and your relationship history, there should be nothing to worry about.

Thank you guys for the info. It's just the jitters because I get nervous for even job interviews lol. We've been together for four years and have lived together since 2008 so I am not worried, I pretty much know everything about him and he is the same with me. It's just I have heard scary stories of people who were legitimately married and they didn't believe them.

And no worries about the lying stuff....I can't lie worth a ####### because I blush the instant I do lol. It's my own truth test. I just don't want to be pulled apart because that would be scary to know that they think we aren't really married :(

Thank you again!

I should also mention that we aren't getting interviewed in Pakistan. My husband is from Pakistan but we live in the US and have for four years. Our main office to get fingerprinted/interviewed at is in Helena Montana.

Hiya,

so as my pre-posters mentioned, only if there is doubts about the legitimacy of the marriage they will conduct a second, intense interview with you guys separate, but don't even think that far.

The interview scheduled for your AOS is not as bad as you think - if you read other posts you will see that they confirm what I am writing to you here. First, you enter the office of the interviewing IO (Immigration Officer) and before you and your hubby sit down they ask you to raise your hand and swear that you are telling the truth. Then they will verify your IDs, your hubby will also show his passport incl. I-94 and his EAD card.

Following that is basically a quick run down of the paperwork submitted. I was asked to confirm my and my wife's birth date, our phone numbers, when was the last time I entered the country (since it had been over 10 years I was unable to give an exact date, but that is no pass or fail question), asked if I am working at the moment and then did the typical I-485 questions about terrorism, drug dealings and all where you initially hopefully could say all "No" to in the form.

She then turned to my wife, asked me to get the original supporting documents ready and or any other additional evidence that I want to show. My wife was asked about her employment still being as originally submitted in the I-864, her citizenship and then some personal questions as in where and when we met, if I have met her family and has she met mine.

Then she asked to see the documents, kept an account statement original and then wanted to see wedding pictures (we had 3 Albums, one was wedding/guest book, one I made her as an anniversary gift with photos from our "adventures" aka vacations, outings etc. and a third one with different pictures showing us with our families)

The IO only had interest in the wedding pictures, left with the album to make copies and returned with them. She asked my wife to point who my parents are and me who hers are which she marked with a pen on her copies. Since we had to turn our cell phones off in the waiting area I don't know the exact time we got called in, appointment was 12.45 but by 1.20 she told us the expected words of that she needs further review before making a decision.

I knew from here on VJ that its pretty common for my local office not to disclose right away if you have passed, yet, if you pay attention to the words the IO Says, you know you did - like our case, she did educate us that if approved that I will receive the green card within 30 days and how to make an infopass if nothing till then, she also already told me about the ROC (Removal of conditions) process that I need to two in 2 years. And sure enough, by 4.50 I received an e-mail with status update of my case "Card production ordered"

Soooo, I hope I could ease your mind a bit. Sure it's good to know things like the night's before dinner or breakfast, they might ask you that, but stokes question's like the color of your tooth brush, from what I heard there is even a possibility there that you will have that interview separately scheduled upon request of yours and so you could prepare for it.

Good luck on the rest of your AOS journey :)

Keep us posted
