Nice to have another European to keep me company on this long wait :) I FedExed mined yesterday (darn bank holiday on Monday) so it should be there by Thursday. I wonder if we'll hear anything from KCC before September?

Hey :) ! Yes, definitely, we should hear from them this month or next month. They're going to send us a letter acknowledging that we want to actually apply for the DV. The following steps of the application should be outlined in their letter :) !

I figured it might still be a while after the whole 'You will only be contacted by the Kentucky Consular Center when a visa appointment is scheduled' line. Great if we do hear earlier, it'd be good to have a general idea of the timeline with regards to the medical/interview etc.

If you take a look at the visa bulletin from October 2010, you'll see EUR winners with numbers below 9600 were current - so they had their interviews around that time. Your second notification (interview) should be coming by September the latest.

Well technically you could already go get your medicals done, since they are valid for a year after the physician signs it. I got mine done today and since I will still be filing in less than 12 months, it's all good. :)

Would be nice to have more people share their experience on this forum :) !

Uhm, just a quick question? Were you born in the UK and do you have a UK passport? If so then you are not eligible to actually end up getting the green card, given that the UK (except Northern Ireland) is barred from being issued diversity visas. If you were born in Northern Ireland, then you're fine. Also, if you were born abroad and have a passport from that country, then you're fine too. You might want to verify if you are eligible :)

Yup I'm Northern Irish, and was born here. Sadly the forum makers didn't give me an option to put that as my country...

Out of interest, how did you do your medical without a case number? I thought we had to wait until we had a case number for the Embassy that'll process our application (which for me is London)?

Oh ok, that's awesome. I just wanted to make sure :)

Well as for the medical examination, it doesn't ask for your case number. It only asks for your name, DOB, address, etc... :) Our case number is the one that was given to you when you received your notification that you were selected for further processing, hence 2012EU.....But even if that wasn't the actual case number, it is not required for the medical. I hope this answers your question :) !

Ah OK. I'd just been doing a lot of reading of the UK forum about the medical, and they seemed to think that the Embassy needed to have started dealing with your case before the medical or they wouldn't have an associated file to put your medical results in.

No, it doesn't matter, the medical does not ask for an application number whatsoever. The medical is valid for a year on the date it is signed by the physician.

Hi - I am also a 'winner' of the DV2012 greencard lottery - I am also born in Northern Ireland and living in London, and will be going through the process (medical, interview etc. in London). Question re: the medical - I understand they send the results directly to the embassy, does the medical facility let you know "all okay" at the time of the medical? Keen not to get all the way to interview then find out I was not aware of a missing immunisation or something that I could have got sorted.

Of interest, I notice only 30 Northern-Ireland born individuals collected a green card in a recent year (last year) I think - so very odd to have two on this forum...

Obviously we're just the most tech-savvy of the home nations :)! It does seem like a bit of a coincidence, but maybe more NI folks got through to this stage this year?

**IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING THE 2012 DIVERSITY LOTTERY PROGRAM**

We regret to inform you that, due to a computer programming problem, the results of the 2012 Diversity Lottery that were previously posted on this website have been voided. They were not valid and were posted in error. The results were not valid because they did not represent a fair, random selection of entrants, as required by U.S. law.

If you checked this website during the first week in May and found a notice that you had been selected for further processing or a notice that you had not been selected, that notice has been rescinded and is no longer valid.

A new selection process will be conducted based on the original entries for the 2012 program.

If you submitted a qualified entry from October 5, 2010 to November 3, 2010, your entry remains with us. It will be included in the new selection lottery. Your confirmation number to check results on this website is still valid.

We expect the results of the new selection process to be available on this website on or about July 15, 2011.

We regret any inconvenience this might have caused.

Click here to view a message from David T. Donahue, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Visa Services:

http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1857622883?bckey=AQ~~,AAAAAGWqYgE~,KxHPzbPALrFGi6o0QhQY9IxyliWBJ3Vq&bctid=942119090001

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why was it necessary to invalidate the names that were selected?

  • U.S. law requires that Diversity Immigrant visas be made available through a strictly random process. A computer programming error resulted in a selection that was not truly random.

  • Since the computer programming error caused an outcome that was not random, the outcome did not meet the requirements of the law, and would have been unfair to many DV entrants.

Q: Is the 2012 Diversity Visa Program cancelled?

  • No. The 2012 program will continue. The computer programming error has been identified and corrected. The Department of State will run a new selection using all the qualified entries (ones received between October 5, 2010 and November 3, 2010) it received for the 2012 program.

Q: Do I have to submit a new application?

  • No. You may not submit a new application. We will use all qualified entries received during the October 5 to November 3, 2010 registration period.

Q: Will you open a new entry period?

  • New entries will not be accepted.

Q: I checked the Entry Status Check website after May 1 and it said I had been selected. Can I apply for a DV visa?

  • Unfortunately results previously posted on this website were not valid because the selection process was not fair or random. We will take the entries of all individuals who sent in their registration during the original October 5 to November 3, 2010 time period and run a new lottery. We regret any inconvenience or disappointment this has caused. We expect new results to be available on this website on or about July 15, 2011.

Q: How can I check the results of the new selection?

  • The new results should be available on this website on or about July 15, 2011. The confirmation code you received when you registered is still valid for use on the website.

Q: Was the Department of State hacked? Was my personal information at risk?

  • We have no evidence that this problem was caused by any intentional act. No unauthorized party accessed data related to the DV program.

  • This appears to be solely the result of a computer programming error.
