Another Set of Dumb Questions -- These Ones about Staples.

1. For the G-325a, we had a supplementary page for my fiancé's past five years of employment. We made four copies of the supplement and he signed all of them. Should I staple them to the G325a pages?

2. Do I need to include the instructions to the I-129F?

3. How do I attach things together? What do I staple? Should I use staples?

Basically, the heart of my question is I don't know whether to staple forms together, or use brass tabs, or paperclips, and I'm drowning in paperwork and I don't want to do the same to the poor service center f00b.

I didn't staple anything, but recent posts have shown that USCIS is infact okay with stapling.

I just put it all in order, and then two-hole punched it and put an ACCO fastener through it all. Then I took two massive binder clips and stuck them to the bottom just to insure no folded or wrinkled pages.

Apparently once it gets to the SC it just gets torn apart and reorganized anyways.

EDIT: This might help you. A recent VJer had the application returned after it'd been sorted at the Service Center. Photos were taken for our enjoyment to see how it gets reorganized once at the SC.

What's an ACCO fastener? Is that one of those little brass tabs? (In case the store doesn't have the name brand.)

I wouldnt count on that. Just because the service center pulls apart a petition to staple together in a different order means little other than that this is part of the process at that stage. Staples at the intitial filing may also cause damage to documents etc that have to be removed when a file is reorganised........perhaps even leading to an RFE. I would advise just sticking with the assembly instructions listed on the USCIS site and the directive NOT to use staples.

They are the things that your chart is normally held on at doctor's offices. Two-hole punched at the top with that thing stuck through it. I got a box of 100 of them at Office Depot (look in the hole punch, paper clip area) for like $2.

Also take this into consideration if you plan on hole-punching your petition. Make sure you don't knock off any parts of the documents with your punching.

You'll be fine not doing it. I say just get it into a good order and then binder clip the heck out of it all so it stays together.

We ended up not two-hole punching anything (though I was adamant on doing it). Getting the fasteners was no problem (though I resented paying $5 for 100 when all I wanted was 1). However, none of the copy places we went to had the two hole punch to actully put the holes in the papers! After all was said and done, we used paper clips and bulldog clips. Little bulldog clips for the small bundles of info that I wanted together, and one massive one to hold the entire application together.

All in all.. I will admit now that I overthought the whole process.

That's what I always use---I LOVE bulldog clips!

Other Mo, overthinking is under rated my friend.
