I-134, Affidavit of Support

The I-134 instructions state the following regarding one type of evidence of resources:

A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions with deposits, identifying the following details regarding the account:

1. Date account opened;

2. Total amount deposited for the past year; and

3. Present balance.

Does it really have to be from an officer? Would it be sufficient to print my account history from the account website?

Thanks!

If you are not using assets to qualify then you do not need to include this information.

If you are using assets then following the directions would be prudent.

When would I need to use assets to qualify? I have a good job with a good salary and own my own home (with a mortgage but a lot of equity). Is that enough to go on? They don't really specify. Do they accept other types of backup besides the A, B, and C listed on the instructions? I guess if they did they would've listed it....

thanks!

Why not just get it? Consulates may differ, but our country does require it, as it makes clear in their consulate instructions. It really took all of 10 minutes and was easier gathering my two employer letters - a stop at the bank and they have a standard format for bank letters that has all this info. My bank did charge $10 though. Worth it for peace of mind, in my opinion.

I was just about to ask the same question. I guess just to be on the safe side we should make copies of our bank statements for the past year or account history for the past year and send it to our significant others just in case the consulate asks for them.

Thanks!

So if my income exceeds $18,387 I'll be all set? It's just the 2 of us, no other dependents. I guess I'll call my bank (ING) to see what they can provide for me just in case.
