If you say so. I don't think the Navy's elite corps is that dippy, but what do I know? I'm only a furriner. You are running with the idea that they were told to kill him on sight, no questions asked? I don't know, could be, certainly bringing him to justice would have been problematic, where would he have been tried and by whom? Still, I am inclined to believe that they would have if they could have.

I hope you don't have that low an opinion of the constabulary. I suspect the Administration wanted him captured alive, unlike Paul. My suspicion is that one of the kids was a little trigger happy. SEAL's are not cops. They are a surgical killing machine.

I don't believe there was one trigger happy guy out there, they send in the best for such operations, not the new recruits.

He said dead was easier, not dead was his preference.

I find it interesting that when I first suggested that I would have preferred to have seen him brought in alive and brought to trial I was castigated as a Al Qaeda supporter but for believing the version of events put forward by the military, that these crack professionals did the best job they could in the circumstances I'm some kind of hypocrite. I find it funny personally, there you go.

Why would I admit to something that is not true? I don't think it was wise to create Bin Laden as enemy No1, that was pure stupid, but once he was, then there was no alternative but to try to eliminate him. I would have preferred to have had him go on trial, but that wasn't possible. I prefer to believe that an elite military corps (or whatever they are called) are properly trained rather than a bunch of imbeciles who can't get it right and I prefer to think that the US president, whoever is in office has the interests of the US military elite uppermost in his mind, not a terrorist. I have no sympathy for terrorists, but I do believe that the West has some responsibility for their creation with their intervention choices. Iraq was an idiotic move. Afghanistan less so. I know, too complicate for you Danno.

As to Human rights, Bush didn't think they were a nonsense; nor has any president of the US; these are core values which you seem to be rather ignorant of which is slightly worrying but not surprising.
