When does Police cert and Medial expire?

The police and medical certs need to be issued within 6 months of having your visa interview, which it appears you have already done.

but i still need to send something in before it is approved, so my original question was.. if my police cert expires BEFORE I send in what I need to, will I need to get a new police cert? s the embasssy guy stated to me "you have a year to turn in the info, but things will start to expire"

Your original question was about POE, and the only way you will get an ironclad answer is to ask CBP--they are quick in their response--just go to their website--it is a little cumbersome to get to the proper area to ask a question, but once you get there, they respond very quickly.

Consulates are not concerned about any "expiration dates" contained in police certificates. They want the certificate to have been issued within a year of the interview. Your question is a bit cryptic but if your police report was obtained recently and from the appropriate agency, it will be acceptable.

As I stated already, we got our police check May 21, 2010. So it will expire May 21, 2011. This will be BEFORE we get our final approval because we wont have the w2s sent in by then. And I emailed the consulate a week ago and they have not gotten back to me.

I really don't know how my question is cryptic.

They require the police certificate be less than one year old when the visa is issued. So, get a new one.

Can anyone from Ireland confirm this for me? I'm still confused as to whether or not I should get another Police Cert (if it's ok if' it's expire when we enter the USA)?

You get the police cert from any Garda station in Ireland.

I may be speaking out of turn, but.........if you are so worried, go get another police clearance. With all my travels outside the US where i needed police clearance, it was only good for 6 months. Here in Costa Rica it is only good for 3 months and soon to be 1 month. I would never leave it up to anyone else but myself. I have doubles and triples of everything. I personally would not get my police clearance or medical until the last possible minute, just in case. Common sense tells me a medical or police clearance should NOT be good for one year, that is ridiculous.How much can happen in a year psychically, mentally, legally is amazing. I don't take anyone opinions here either.....only facts from those that have actually been in the same shoes i am walking in. This is too important of an issue for opinions. The more you have the safer you are.

Thanks, It's not a matter of me needing it to be valid for another few months... We already had our interview and just need to send in current w2s (which we'll have within the next week or two). Then we will be done. We only got our medical done March 22. Even if it's valid for 6 months, we'll be fine. It was only the police cert that I was really worried about since it will probably expire by the time we send in our w2s.

Police Records

Available. Police records will no longer be called "Police Certificates of Character." The title of the certificate will read "Police Certificate." Under this title appears a box, which states "This certificate is issued solely for the information of the U.S.A. Consular authorities.

Residents of the Republic of Ireland may apply for a "Police Certificate" through the local Garda Station in which they reside. Derogatory information is usually listed on the back of the form. To be valid, a district stamp (usually in the lower left hand corner), identifies the issuing Garda Station, signed by the District Superintendent, or his or her deputy.

Persons residing outside of Ireland can apply for the "Police Certificate" by writing the Garda Office in the district of their former residence. The applicant should furnish her or her full name, date and place of birth, and place and period of all residences in the Republic of Ireland, including full addresses. The request should be accompanied by a birth certificate.

Police Certificates will be issued directly to the applicant from the local Garda Station, not Garda Headquarters and the Guarda Headquarters stamp will no long appear on the Police Certificate.
