Hi All,

I recently sent my petition as you can see from my timeline in the signature.

I received my I-797 (NOA1).

Now which date is my NOA1 date? The "Notice Date" or "Received Date"?

I am uploading the image of the I-797 with most of the important stuff blanked out.

Also, How do I tell if my file was "touched" without periodically logging into the website.

I created an account on USCIC, entered my Receipt number and enabled SMS and Email notifications.

Last date of update is 04/29/2011. The question is, will I get an email/sms whenever this file is "Touched" or will I have to manually log-in to check if the Last Update date has changed?

many thanks,

chirag

Don't rely on the USCIS site. Many people go untouched from beginning to end. I did have a few "touches" I had to log into the site to see the change. I had signed up for texts but didn't receive any and neither did my fiance. I had my interview last week and was approved. The USCIS site still says Initial review. Use the date of the NOA1 as your date, not the date you received it.

I don't know about the touch thing because I'm the beneficiary. However, for your NOA1, you would go by your "Notice Date" as that is the date that USCIS 'notified' you. The received date is just the day they got your paperwork.

You can also sign up to the USCIS site and check for updates. Kenny and I both signed up so that both could check. Either that or share the password so both can check :-)

If you signed up for email/sms alerts then you should (emphasis on should) get alerts when it is "touched". But it isn't always a sure thing. Many people get approved without ever receiving a touch on their case. The notice date is when the clock starts as that is when it is entered in to the system.

Good luck for a speedy journey through USCIS.

Hello All,

I was not the most patient person waiting out the NOA1 to NOA2 time.

I did not have any touches except for a mass touch on October 3 and I think this was a system change.

I waited the five month average date and then started chasing USCIS through their number.

I kept a running log of the dates, times, and the Agent ID that I talked too.

You will learn that the Tier 1 personnel will recite the same information you can already see on the website.

You can try to get a service request started after the five months is up.

They will tell you that you have to call back after 30 days which is equal to the five months + 30 days. This is bull. I just kept calling back every day until I reached a tier 1 that submitted the service request.

The mailed response from the service request was merely that they were processing the application please allow 60 days until the reach a decision. I contacted my senators once I had a few of these USCIS attempts under my belt. I wrote him with all the dates, times, agent ID and what was said.

Then asked them to write in and check on things and boom I at least received some action which was an RFE - Request for Evidence - wanting another copy of my divorce which they already had as part of the packet.

I was told by others that this may have been merely to give them more time to look at the file they should have processed already.

Just be patient as possible and make sure to keep all the chat logs that you can.

Gather copies of the money transfers that you make as you make them.

Try to use a camera with the date on the picture when you visit. We did not do this in the beginning so we have to figure out the dates on our first visits.

It is a draining process. Talk often, Visit when ever possible, and build on the relationship.

We have been together and we have over 2000 pictures of us around the philippines.

Good Luck
