I finally officially proposed and my sweetest Maria said yes. We are now officially engaged and no longer just talking about getting married and the process. She was so nervous as was I when I asked but we both have been glowing ever since. Now I wish they would touch our package to let us know it did not fall into the trash can by the coffee pot. Payato

I would think telling the Embassy that you were engaged prior to the filing of the I-129f would be a good idea. I'm not sure how they would view that. "When did you get engaged?" is a common question in the interview process. I really don't know how much this would effect things but............ who know's? oh! yeah! I'm not a lawyer!! just someone who thinks deep into things and situations.

or explain that you agreed to get married on a certain date (the date you did) and then explain you officially got engaged when you could present her a ring. I dunno!! maybe I'm too much!!

Yodrak had mentioned in another topic similar to this about "engaged" not really being in the vocabulary of the USCIS/Consultate.

If you decide to get married, you're getting married, regardless of if there was proposal or not.

I'm sure a lot of people discuss marriage and decide to get married before there ever is a ring or a proposal (which is what happened with us). It's enough for the USCIS that you intent is to marry when you both write those handy-dandy "intent to marry" letters for the petition.
