ok so I was talking to a great friend of mine the other day...she knows everything about my situation and I have asked her many many questions about Islam since I've known her. She has always been good to answer my questions to the best of her knowledge and for that I am eternally gratefull. THANKS

I had made a comment a few days back that I should just convert and get it over with because I found that I was defending Islam more than ever before and I felt so strongly that it was the right path for all. Why I didn't convert, I don't know....scared maybe....afraid of what ppl would say.....afraid I wouldn't do anything right....afraid of converting for the wrong reasons.....I don't know..take your pick.. I guess they're all right in a way. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the only thing that matters is what my heart tells me and my heart was sure talking loud.

Monday night, Sept 4th, I waited up for my husband to get home from work coz I wanted to talk to him about it. All the while, talking to my friend that I mentioned earlier. 5 minutes before he was to arrive home, I get a phone call from some of his coworkers and they said he invited them over for tea and coffee. (mind you this is at 10:15pm) So they come over and stay until around 2:45am. The last hour of our conversation stemmed from his co-worker saying that he felt religiously empty and wished he could find something to make him feel "whole" again. Immediately, I was telling him about Islam and what the beliefs are and why it may be beneficial for him to look in to it.

Now...remember that at this time, I am a Christian, always have been, always will be but yet the first thing out of my mouth is "hey, maybe you could look in to Islam". So as I'm talking ..I'm thinking to myself..."what am I doing...I'm a Christian but spreading Islam...that's just not right"....."I should be spreading Christianity, not Islam" I realized then that I really needed to step back and see where my heart was leading me. If the best advice I can give somebody is about Islam...shouldn't I take that advice as well??

His friends left at 2:45am and we went to bed...although I had asked my friends what was needed to convert, I wanted to hear it from him as well...just to kind-of "solidify" it, ya know?? He said that a person needs 2 witnesses and has to say Shahada. We discussed the witness thing and..he said "maybe we can discuss it tomorrow"

I said "I would like to do it now".

Him- "you need to make sure you are doing it for the right reasons and you have to believe in your heart that what you are doing is right.....it is a big choice you know"

ME- "If I was going to do it for the wrong reasons, I would have converted last March when I first started thinking about it"

Him- "you are really serious???

ME- "yes, I am really serious. can we call a friend of yours to be the 2nd witness?? I want to do it right now, I don't want to wait any longer"

Him- "oh NOW!?!...(looking at the time)

then this next part i don't remember exactly how he put it so I won't quote it but he said if a person is feeling the "pull" to convert "right now" then they can say shahada right there as long as they believe in their heart and have the pure intent. he said if there is 1 witness then that is very good. So I asked him to help me to say Shahada right then.

Though it has only been a few days, our relationship has changed tremendously already. I can't really explain it but it is so so so so great!!! Its almost like a new found respect and love for each other...its just amazing!!!

Thanks for letting me share my story with you all! I'm kind of scared at what ppl are going to say but I can handle it with good sisters here to have my back and help me to remain strong and proud! Also if there's anybody who is "on the fence" as to wether they should convert/revert or not... feel free to pm me and we can talk........
