interview in Moscow

There are several misconceptions that I found out during interview:

1) There is a common view that you cannot get into the embassy for the interview. Actually you CAN. I flew to Moscow and asked at the entrance if I can go with my fiancee. They allowed me and in fact I was sitting right behind her and heard every single thing she was asked or answered.

2) Being at the interview actually was viewed favorably by the CO. In fact, he asked if this is your fiance and asked just two more questions as a formality. In fact, they did not ask a single piece of evidence! None. She did not even open her evidence folder.

I see a lot of members here saying that there is no way to:

1) Change the interview date to an earlier one. In fact, you can even without strong reason, just because you miss each other and took a liberty of writing them

2) If you really want to you CAN be present during interview.

Being present at the interview is entirely dependant on the consulate where your interview is scheduled. If it is one that you can attend, then I think it is highly beneficial to be there if possible just for the reason you stated. If the consular officer knows you're there, I think it goes a heck of a long way towards proving the bona fides. Unfortunately for me, in Guangzhou the petitioner is not allowed in for the interview, unless it is for a minor.

Congratulations, again on your approval SD. And thanks for the information as I imagine there will be more than a few guys who will want to attend the interview with their fiancee in Moscow. I'm sure mine was glad that I wasn't there as I would have just made her far more nervous than she already was.

:D

(This should probably be moved to the RUB forum)

WOW, thank you for this information. I was going to be there in Moscow but never dreamed I would be able to go. Now I will go with her and ask nicely to be allow to be present. I thought that it would be favorable that I was there, as we were going to have her take in pictures in front of the Embassy together and other eveidence to show I was there...but this is even better!!!

Just don't approach the window itself. Sit on the first raw and they will see that you are there.
