Getting ready to apply for Citizenship

Hello everyone,

My wife and I are preparing her application for citizenship. She meets the requirements of being married to a US Citizens and being a Permanent Resident for at least 3 years. She has a 10 year old son from a previous marriage that occured when she lived in her original place of birth. Both are Permanent Residents of the US. We have filled in the application, have copies of all the required documents, and are getting ready to mail in.

I understand that her son will become a US Citizen when she does. My questions are, do I need to submit anything to prove their relationship? Does he rquire a fee also or is it just 1 fee for both?

Any helpful info you can think of would be greatly appreciated.

it's when she becomes a USC, meaning after she becomes a USC, not at the same time.

he will automatically become a USC after she does.

Her son will automatically become a US citizen when she does. The "normal" way would be to file an N-600 application afterward to document what has already happened. However, if you'd like to safe the $600 for that, let me know and I'll tell you how to get him a US passport easily without any additional paperwork and cost involved.

My situation is basically the same except that my wife has a 16 year old daughter from a previous marriage. Both are Permanent Residents of the US, can our daughter automatically become a US citizen when my wife does? What is the age limit, under 18? Under 16?

As soon as your wife becomes a US citizen, she will have to formally surrender her Chinese passport to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. The one thing I'm not sure about, and I have looked into this before, is whether or not the Chinese citizen "child" would have to choose at some point whether or not he or she wants to be a US citizen or Chinese citizen, or whether China tolerates dual citizenship when children obtained another citizenship automatically, as many other countries do it.
