So I am asking this in behalf of a good friend of mine.

I don't want to go into details, but when she was young, she was abused and she kept it to herself. Fast forward to our teen years and her first major heartbreak triggered some of these hidden emotions, and she attempted to commit suicide via overdose. She was hospitalized for a week, and she went to see a psychiatrist and was on the appropriate antidepressants for quite a while. Fast forward some years again and she has now fully recovered, is not on any medication, she has a great job and has truly done well for herself.

She has met a nice American soldier who truly cares for her and if they were to go the k1 route someday, how would this episode in her life affect her medical? She truly deserves to be happy and I don't want that event to keep haunting her and affecting her present life, it has already done enough damage.

Please advise. Thanks:)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Depends on how sever the embassy and the medical in the country she comes from will look at the issue.

Some countrys its not an issue, some it is.

Some require certain things to be done before having an approved immigration medical with that kind of medical history.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Can I ask an admin to move this to the PI forum so I can get some specific answers maybe? I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this :)

Hi, I just had my medical last Wed, May 5. Mayhap, in sharing some of the questions the attending physician asked me, you will be able to help your friend.

The very first question I was asked is the first day of my last period. Then, if i have kids, or if i ever got pregnant, or had a miscarriage. She then asked me if I were ever hospitalized. I had a traumatic mountaineering accident in 1995, was in coma for 3 weeks, due to the severe head injury. She asked if i had records, and i told her that i couldn't find them anymore, but i gave her the name of the hospital and my specialists. She then asked if i had surgery, and on maintenance. i told her the surgical procedure, therapy i underwent to, and medicines I was prescribed. Fortunately, I am not under maintenance anymore.

She then asked me if I had ever taken illegal drugs, or had a history of TB. the last question before she asked me to unrobe is my educational attainment. We must have attended the same university, because she asked for my degree. Im not exactly sure how my education relates to the medical exam though

When i was claiming my copy the next day, after the vaccinations. The lady behind the counter went through what i narrated, then asked if i had any dental fillings. And that was that. It was a breeze. I arrived around lunch for the Medical, and finished about 3 pm.

I would suggest that your friend bring her medical records and prescriptions; Xrays, CT scans, MRI, etc from her physicians; if she had lost them, I suppose she may retrieve them from the clinic/ hospital she went to. She may also want to bring some medical clearance from her doctors; i brought one for my gurd, but was never asked anything in relation to that. I did not bring anything else relating to my hospitalization, but the doctor found my narrative sufficient to approve me.

I hope the best for your friend. Everyone deserves to find his true happiness.

In her medical day, she has to open and air it out to the doctor that facilitating the medical. They will know what to do. In this way maybe, she can be referred to a psychiatrist that works in the hospital for the Embassy that deals with this kind of situation. However, I would say cover all the sides before proceeding to the K1 to see of there is a big obstacle far ahead. It will save them money, time and frustrations. I wish your friend good luck.

When she goes to St. Luke's she will have to undergo additional Psych evaluations. We had to pay an additional 1000p and 3500p for two extra psych evals. Ours was only because she had a prior annulment on grounds of psychologically incapacitated. It was the only way she could get her annulment. Also, we were delayed an additional 3 weeks and missed our interview appointment by 2 days. We had our interview finally yesterday and were approved.

Wrong

Many doctors in Philippines are quacks and the ones doing the Medical Interview are about brain dead. Many backward doctors in Philippines, I doubt many of them would be able to become a MD in USA.

oh! I remember, someone in this forum is a god and knows everything. "many doctors in the Philippines are quacks" that's like saying most of the Americans are a-hole. hmm reminds me of someone familiar.

Thanks to the quack doctors that learned through Philippine education system, for you can concur that your wife is a quack nurse.

It's amazing how you can see potholes about my country yet again you keep coming back.

He's a d*head. While in the Phils, I hope he'll NEED to find his way to a Filipino doctor and they will do something about it.
