Did our interview last Dec 6,2011 and was approved. Just wondering does anyone have an idea how long does it takes to received the visa.

Congrats! That would depend upon if you specified that you would pick it up at a 2Go office and where in the Philippines you live if you didn't tell them to hold for pick-up. Generally, plan on about 2 weeks.

Ray-J: The merriest of congratulations to you!!!! I understand about the surreal part. Believe me, the feeling will continue. I still often look at Inday right in front of my eyes here in the U.S. and the feeling is, yes, surreal but equally joyous. May Amy and Serena be blessed with safe and speedy travel all the way to U.S. and to you. Godspeed! --RK

I've been able to confirm through checking Amy's Korean Air Skypass mileage tally that they made their flight and are heading for South Korea right now. After a 2 hour lay-over, it's on to Chicago. Finally, the nightmare of being apart is almost over!!:dance::D

My fiancee arrived here last Dec 20, 2011... and it went smoothly for her at the immigration (POE- La). We were just enjoying the holidays together and now planning for a simple wedding. Is it true that AOS can be filed within a year?

As I understand it, AOS can be filed as soon as you have everything you need to send in with the paperwork. See the AOS guides for a detailed explanation of the required supporting documentation. However, if your question is more about how much time you have before you absolutely have to file then I've heard that while it should be done as soon as possible you can wait for a brief period if necessary to file. However, I wouldn't wait too long to file since this might raise some red flags.

Thanks Ray_J. We finally filed for our AOS last Feb. 10, 2012. USCIS received it Feb 14 and send the notice on the 17. We file the I485 together with her EAD. We already received the notice for her biometrics which was scheduled on the 21st of March. So far things are running smoothly. Waiting for the day... :)
