Software Developer, undertaking a degere

Hi guys,

I'm an Australian-born software developer, with about 6 years experience in the field.

I'm currently undertaking a masters degree, which I hope to complete within 2 years or less.

After that, I'm going to apply for the E3 visa, which is for "specialty occupations" requiring the "application of a body of theoretical knowledge".

This *seems* like a good fit with what I'm doing.

Does this sound like something that could work?

Also, between now and then, I want to make trips to the US to see my girlfriend, who lives there. Will this be possible on the Visa Waiver?

Is there any limit to how many times I can visit under the waiver, before they become suspicious of my purpose in returning, and start refusing entry?

If the above happens, is there anything that prevents me from using the B2 (tourist) visa instead?

Cheers!

You can visit the USA no worries on VWP and stay the full 90 days. I did and never had an issue. If you want to use B2 they will ask why you want to go to the states and how long do you plan on staying. If you say you have a girlfriend they may think you have intentions of staying and not returning. The E3 seems to be the way to go and as you will have a degree you can work in the USA or you need a sponsor in that certain field.. it is not easy to work in USA as it is in Europe or UK. So yes visiting on VWP is cool and its vaild for 3 months at a time so I would not make it too often as POE may get suspicious if you visit more than you are living back home in OZ.

Divorced !st November 2012.
