Looters pilfering through shattered homes; nighttime curfew imposed

Associated Press - April 29, 2011 4:34 PM ET

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa residents say looters are cleaning out the remains of shattered homes.

Shirley Long says thieves are just stealing. She says they took her jewelry, and her guns.

Tuscaloosa police Capt. C.J. Hartley says authorities know looting is a problem, but a curfew imposed last night has helped.

Robbie Thomas wept as her friends helped look for items in her damaged home worth salvaging. She survived the tornado with her nephew and infant child, hiding under a bed, then pushing the debris off of them after the storm passed.

Looters ransacked the home the night before.

Thomas says they took everything she had.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

I don't think Americans are all alike in any respect. You are the one suggesting that there is a difference between the way Japanese people cope with disaster and Americans not me. I provided a glib response to a glib post. Perhaps you would like to re-think your question a little?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

You can say it, Gary. We all know you want to. It's because there ain't no black folk in Japan. See, it's not that hard. Why are you scared to express your opinion? We all know what it is so you may as well just say it.

Well since you mentioned it...during the WTO protest in Seattle who was doing all the looting ? And during the riots in LA again who was doing all the looting ?

It's an easy answer with google. :)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I forgot to add New Orleans to that list...

That is not my opinion. I would thank you to keep yours to yourself.

Why don't you share your opinion?

Alabama needs to allow anyone to carry a handgun concealed without having to apply for a permit. Having this restriction only reduces the number of good people with guns.
