I'm just wondering.....

1. If you had previous PTB case and you have med cert that says you have been cured, would they still require you to do sputum test?

2. If you go through sputum test and all 3 tests are negative, do they still require a culture test?

Ill apppreciate your reply.. Thanks a lot!!

I don't know exactly what the medical clinic will do where you are having the tests done. But my experience of working at a hospital is:

If a patient has had prior TB then 3 sputum tests will need to be done (on 3 consecutive days) - this is because the xray does not distinguish between old or new tb, an xray just shows TB.

If all 3 are negative, then a further culture is not necessary.

Hope this helps!

i'll try to answer your 1st question... yes i think so they will still require you to do the sputum, 2nd question.. still yes, even though it's negative you still have to wait until 2 months for the results, and if they call you b4 2 months,.. then i think they will put you in 6 months medication...
