Hi all. I have my medical exam for my K1 Visa on Wednesday, and I know for it to be approved the vaccination series just has to be started but not necessarily complete. I've had two Tdap shots and need a third in December (6 months from the second shot).

So...I'm wondering, when it comes time to apply for AOS, does my series need to complete, or will I still be okay? I don't really want to wait until December to file for AOS!

Thanks :)

Here: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/adult/mmwr-adult-schedule.pdf page 3, #2 outlines the Td/Tdap requirements.

As with the K1 visa your shots need to be up to date at the time of filing. If this means that you're missing shots because it's not time to get them then your DS-3025 should be marked "insufficient time internal" on the required shot. You MIGHT get an RFE for the missing shot when it comes time to AOS which is why when you get here you should go see a CS and get your DS-3025 transcribed into an I-693 just to ensure you don't get the RFE. Getting an RFE isn't a big deal though especially with something that's so easy to fix.

Do they just put the information from one form onto the other? How does that help? Sorry, I'm confused! Like if I apply for AOS in July-August, which is what Im thinking, will they delay giving me my greencard until I am able to get that third shot?

More or less YEP! That's exactly what the transcription is. They check to see if you're missing any shots and give them to you if you need them and then sign off on it (just part 1, part 2 (vaccination table only) and part 5).

The scenarios are:

1. Send the DS-3025 and USCIS notices you're up to date and you get your GC no issue

2. Send the DS-3025 and USCIS doesn't think you're up to date and you get an RFE. Then you need to go to a CS and get the missing shot and the transcription

3. Send the DS-3025 and USCIS loses your original medical and you get an RFE for the missing medical and you'll need to get a full I-693 completed (or get a copy of your K1 medical)

4. Send the I-693 transcription and USCIS knows you're up to date and you get GC no issue

5. Send the I-693 transcription and USCIS loses your original medical and you get an RFE for the missing medical and you'll need to get a full I-693 completed (or get a copy of your K1 medical)

In my personal case I had a copy of my K1 medical so I had the I-693 transcription done and if they lost my medical it wouldn't be a problem. If I didn't have the copy K1 medical and they had lost my K1 medical (which does happen) then I would have had to had a whole new medical done. I would have sent off my DS-3025 just to see what happens because I wouldn't have wanted to pay for a transcription to then have to pay for a full medical.
