Dear Fellow Members seeking your input:

Our NVC Process Started in Feb-2011 and on April 01, 2011 we received a RFI (the birth certificate was not in a format that they could accept) and we hence we provided the acceptable format on April 01, 2011 itself.

As of date we get the same standard response, to wait 20 business days, which we formally completed today. We have opted-in for electronic processing and got the email confirmation that they received the email. Today we were given to understand that NVC is doing a final review?? Not sure what that means?

Is there any fellow member who is undergoing this situation, if so, what are our next steps??

Thanks for taking time to read our concern and appreciate any positive feedback

Best,

KRIBUN

I am in similar situation. I decided on electronic processing now I started to regret my decision. NVC case has been there since the end of December. I received an RFE for a document on March 31, this was already sent to them middle of February. Now they are giving the standard give us 20 business days line. Occasionally you get nice people on the phone, but sometimes they are so rude on the phone.

Kribun,

I'm presuming all your required docs have been submitted to NVC? If so, That's NVC's standard response that they are doing a 'final review' (essentially re-checking everything) before they label it as a 'case complete' status and forward it to the embassy in Canada. In your case it may and/or probably includes re-checking the RFE.

Unfortunately, NVC is quite often not timely in the time frame they quote (i.e. 20 business days). It happens often, that they take longer. I really wouldn't worry too much. You said you re-submitted the birth certificate in the format they required. So, barring any more particulars regarding that... you are basically on your way. It might be a good idea to call NVC directly and speak with a live operator. That's going to be your fastest way to get the most recent update. Email responses from NVC tend to take longer because they're answered in order received. And, the automated system by phone is often weeks to months off with current updates. Call NVC and speak with an operator. You may get the same 'generic' sounding response from them a few times. But, if you keep at it every day or every couple days,... you will get some update. If too much time passes, and it seems like there's no movement or real answer, don't hesitate to ask to speak with a supervisor. Many are good, some won't be of much help. But, the supervisors often have access to a little more information and are often more knowledgeable.

Best Wishes,

We just hit our 20 business day mark today and got the document complete email from NVC. There was nothing about final review though and it only said that as soon as an interview has been scheduled we will be notified. Not sure if they skipped the final review or completed it the same day or what.

If you're in the "Final Review" stage that means that they have all of the documentation and are checking it off. Once this is completed (5 to 10 business days) then your case will be forwarded to the Consulate and they will schedule the interview and send out the notice with all the instructions.

Thanks all for taking the time to read and respond, we got the confirmation today via email that NVC has completed the review of the case. For some reason sign in did not fail something we are not going to worry about.

Now we will wait for the interview and hope things progress.. Good luck to you all on your visa journey!

Best,

Kribun
