The Embassy called my husband today. When the man called he spoke to my mother-in-law. When she said my husband was sleeping, the man said he was a friend of my husband from Lahore and could she wake him up. When my husband came to the phone he said he was calling from the American Embassy. He gave my husband an interview over the phone. He asked him the following questions:

1. What is your wife's name

2. How does she get her income

3. Why were there only a few people at your wedding

4. Why didn't you call the neighbors to your wedding

5. Who is your co-sponsor

He then told my husband to be at the embassy on May 10th at 9:00am for another interview. He said bring back our marriage certificate with translation and pictures of the wedding.

My question is how should I prepare my husband for this 2nd interview. My husband is much younger than me and we have been in AR for 3 months and AP for 2 months. His first interview was July 15,2010.

Whats to prepare? If the relationship is legitimate he should know the answers to the questions the CO asks.

If his interview was July 15th 2010 which was over 9 months ago and you account for 3 months off AR and 2 months of AP what about the other 4 months? what was going on there?

The embassy called my husband again today to ask him some more questions. This time the person said they were calling from Washington and spoke in English not Urdu.

I will be happy when May 10th gets here and his interview is over. I am sending him with affidavits from friends and family, emails and we are busy practicing interview questions.

Thank you all for the best wishes. I've never heard of them calling from Washington before either but the embassy people love to play games to try and catch people off guard. They are fishing for a wrong answer to one of their questions.

We don't know if these phone calls from the embassy is a good or bad thing. All we can do is prepare for the interview and then leave the outcome in God's hands.

My husband had his interview. The Co took him into a private room and grilled him. The CO asked many many questions. Here are a few examples:

1. Children's names and birthdays?

2. Who lives with your wife?

3. What was her last job?

4. When did she stop working?

5. Does she own her home?

6. Who's name is on the title?

7. What is her ex-husband's name?

8. How old is he?

9. Questions about our co-sponsor.

The Co asked my husband why I couldn't live in Pakistan and what we would do if we didn't get the visa. The CO kept our marriage certificate, emails, affidavits from family and friends, chat logs and all our wedding pictures. The CO said we would have an answer about the visa in a couple of months.

So now we wait some more.

Uphill, I forgot to mention that they called our co-sponsor right before the interview. They asked him if he knew my husband and if he still wanted to sponsor him.

I wish the CO had said a couple of days to review our case but I believe they will take every bit of that 2 months to make a decision.
